Frank Turek answers one the hardest questions a Christian could ever be asked and oftentimes people aren't satisfied with the answer. In this video Frank Turek talks with an atheist named Cody and he asked Frank Turek a very challenging question looking to stump him. Not only did he not stump, he wasn't ready for the response he received! I react to this debate and give my commentary and expand on some the things Dr. Turek said in this discussion.

"When God allows evil, He preserves human freedom (free will), but He exposes our depravity so we are without excuse."

Great quote!

Cody doesn't have a problem with God's existence... He has a problem with God's authority...

Crazy how people don't blame THE PEOPLE for wicked acts but conveniently ONLY blame the Creator.

It took me 2 hrs of rewinds to make it to the end of this video. Thank you; you provided me a promising bridge tonight to step out on.

I've noticed that a lot of atheists are mostly angry at God for not intervening on something bad that happened to them, so they spend their lives trying to "delete" Him.

It's funny to me that most people blame God for the works of Satan.

“Why doesn’t God prevent evil?” Is a legitimate question. It’s a question that Christians wrestle with, too. Cody didn’t ask, “what’s the source for our concept of right and wrong?” He’s just wrestling with the problem of evil, which, to me, is intellectually honest.

The real intention of atheists not believing in God is that He's not the kind of God they want.

He seems like a nice kid. It looks like he's asking an honest question. Nothing wrong with that. I pray that he finds Christ.

I had a friend named Colton who was physically and emotionally abused by his parents who professed to be Christians. He said he prayed to God to end the abuse and it wasn’t answered. He ended up becoming an atheist as a result. My heart breaks that he lost his faith because of their evil. All I can do is pray for him.

In the unsaved, pride is continuing to make the same rash argument despite it being answered and defeated by the truth. This poor kid exemplified it; but his pain inside was equally visble. I pray he gets saved so that God can heal him.

"Raise you hand in this room if you want to get raped."

Wrong question. The issue is that there are clearly people who want to be the rapist and don't care what the victim thinks. What makes rape wrong for the one with power in a godless universe?

We would not have free will, if God intervened every time we do evil.

Cody is asking a question with a strong emotional angle. He is asking what we have all asked and that is, "Why?" We see the horror and it makes us mad, afraid, lash out, and distrustful of God. The response from us will either lead to turning away from God or a humbling and submission. Turek is answering from a rational theological angle and is correct but it doesn't touch the emotional turmoil of the question. The answer seems cold in the face of suffering.

Atheists like Cody don't understand free will. Frank explained it to him twice, too.

Cody is just very confident that he was gonna get a gotcha question but he had no backup when he was met with wisdom.

Why doesn't God intervene, God didn't intervene when his Son Jesus Christ suffered the most agonising death imaginable by being nailed to the cross. God will wipe every tear and he will make a new heaven and earth with no suffering nor evil.
Glory to God.
