Yes! Years ago I had tried all kinds of BC, also Lupron shot. My bleeding and cramping was absolutely ridiculous. Irregular periods was all I ever knew. I would vomit. I couldn’t tell if it were cramps or a kidney stone. 😕 laparoscopic surgery, doc said I had the prettiest set of reproductive organs she had ever seen. Problems persisted and About a year after that, we opted for a hysterectomy. Turned out I had adenomyosis all over the inside of my uterus. I was 25 at the time. So make sure you advocate for yourselves if you have some female issues.

My side effects with the first time having Mirena was very bad vaginal itching during PMS, once it was removed after 4 years the itching disappeared . Last year I decided to inserted again and now I got very itchy eye allergy, acne, lower back and neck pain, migraine didn’t stop constant spot bleeding, can’t loose weight, so I am removing it next week . Not positive be thing was no pain during my period and l l as bleeding but the spotting it goes for a week at last .

My experience with IUD was så bad... it shot down my own hormons production, its been 4 years now since I removed and not able yet to get back into my hormons balance again. What happens into the first year of wearing that IUD was tragic and horror. I dont recomend it, coz to some people work, but if u arent lucky u gonna pay u life price. A damage imposible to reverse.

lol nah I’ve had one for three years now and have been bleeding profusely everyday since getting it. All the doctors I’ve seen have said it’s “normal” it’s not normal to bleed for three years straight.

I have a copper IUD and it is supposed to be non-hormonal - but I definitely haven’t been able to have a period for years. Does this mean they gave me one with hormones?

Also, is it safe to use vibration plates with the IUD?

Is it typical with a hormonal IUD to have no periods for a time period (2-3 years) and then suddenly begin having periods again? I know towards the end of the IUDs lifespan that periods are more common but only a few years in seems like to short of a time to already need a switch

Hi dr ally,
I had an switched birth control when I was younger. Got on the Nexplanon when I was 15 years old. I was the heavy weight in highschool my doctor labeled me as obese. I’m 22nd years old now I’ve been a year off of all the hormones and ran into complications with my si joint being pinched because I wasn’t aware my body was so big because my body was processing pregnancy hormones. Im still being tested because my body raises temperature during muscle inflammation. Even though I’ve never been pregnant I had my period by the time I turned 11. Which my period for two years long was just so painful and heavy, I was exhausted then mom suggested birth control to try and help regulate and help my bad cramps. Now I’ve losted 80ibs which I believe was my normal size all along which I love because now I’m able to wear the same size clothes with my little sisters. All throughout my teenage years I fit into woman size 14 my ankles would swell from time to time. I was athletic to help stay a consistent weight, now I’m a size 5 in women’s. Thanks for what you do!
