Windows 11 ARM on M1-based Macs with UTM

In this video, I will lexplain how to get Windows 11 for ARM running on M1-based Apple Macs by using UTM. This works for a MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, iMac and Mac Mini with an M1 chip or the recently released M1 Pro and M1 Max SOCs.
UTM is a free alternative to Parallels or VMWare Fusion and does the job just as well. During the video, I will start with some background and reason for the method I will use, then we'll go ahead and get our hands on a Windows 11 for ARM ISO, get it installed, fix some open issues and test the performance using Geekbench and Browserbench.

2:36 actually, Windows 11 on ARM supports 64-bit x86 apps from day one, it was originally coming to Windows 10 on ARM before Microsoft made it a Windows 11 exclusive feature.

Thank you so much! I ran into some issues immediately after the product key step. It turned out that I wasn't correctly naming the LabConfig key in regedit. I was entering the name in the path/address when it needs to be entered in the file explorer side bar. Once I realized that issue things went smoothly! I noted my solution on the blog too because someone had already posted about having the same issue. I especially like the remote desktop part. I never thought of doing that but it works great!

I faced two problems: win 11 does not work on the old UTM version; if you select another language, there is no English layout. If you do everything as in the video, you will succeed. Great video, thanks!

King. The idea to connect via Remote Desktop allows for using the mac trackpad for smooth scrolling inside Windows 11 guest. Both vertical and horizontal scrolling is smooth!

Initial install failure is tied in some way to partitioning. If you restart the VM as suggested, don't repartition the drive, but instead use the partitions created the first time around. That will work. I made the mistake of deleting them and got the install error again. Obviously, you must create the registry entries again if initial install fails.
Bonus install: Windows Admin Center for Server 2022. It worked with Win 11 Pro.

For those who creates a download package in nonEnglish language but fails to install it, just try the English version. Works for me.

Thanks for the video. It was truly the fighter's journey. I had lots of errors and yet I insert the same command in the terminal. Anyone who is not familiar with the command lines I think it will be very complicated for you because going from forum to forum so only this video can not help you all because the error messages will be different depending on each one example I have ventura to date, probably why I had a lot of problem in any case thank you very very very good video.

Just one correction ARM/x86 this is the architecture, CISC(x86) and RISC (ARM) - this the actual language )

I went through the setup and tried multiple options, if you want to really use windows and have it perform well, parallels is your best option. Sadly it has a price tag, but it worth every penny.
