I love the Bronte's and Jane Eyre is my favorite! I can't believe I waited so long to read it. I read it last April and enjoyed it so much I re-read it again a month later. I rarely read a book more than once unless I absolutely love it. So happy you reviewed it for Victober!

Can't believe I still haven't read this even though I've read Wide Sargasso Sea! I need to of course, for all the obvious reasons but also for the self-worth you speak of. I'd also never heard she was a booklover until now!
I guess the great things with classics is that straightforward analysis by fellow readers is everywhere! Great blogs and stuff. Much fun. Truly loving this series a lot, Kate, cheers!

I actually really want to reread Jane Eyre. My plan is to read Wide Sargasso Sea and then Jane Eyre immediately afterward, so I can have some new ideas while I'm reading it.
I'm so glad you mentioned the relationship bit at the end. I think I will enjoy my rereads more because I now know the Bronte sisters didn't write pure romances. I had to learn to appreciate the stories, but I didn't have to completely agree with the relationships between the characters.

I'm rereading Jane Eyre now. And I agree with you on the dialogue between Jane and Mr. Rochestor, it's so fun to read. They've had me laughing out loud a couple of times. I love her responses. She's such a strong woman. Also agree on your thoughts about the Christianity found at Lowood although Helen Burns has such a pure religion. 😊
