A week? I freak out if I realize I overslept in one.

I can say from working in the ob-gyn field, this is the worse smell I have ever experienced. A woman thought her hubby was having an affair and she had an STD. NOPE it was 2 tampons she had left in there over 1 month. When they were removed and put in a red bag, the room was sprayed with disinfectant and left closed for hours. No STD.

Tip for all of the nurses, CNAs, doctors etc that can't get past certain odors: Peppermint oil on the inside of your mask works wonders. Just a small drop.

I had an ER shift (normally worked in the psych ward), a woman came in...the smell she emitted was indescribable... long story short, she had a tampon stuck for 6 MONTHS! She had completely forgotten and was at the ER for a stomachache. How she didnt notice the smell and how someone didnt mention the smell to her, is beyond me. I wasnt her nurse but couldnt imagine how bad the stench had been once clothing etc had been removed....the coworker who had her as a patient, politely excused herself after the discovery and proceeded to vomit in the bathroom for about 20 mins.

This is exactly why we shouldn't be embarrassed to speak to our daughters.

I heard from a nurse that when it's been in there for awhile it kind of....develops its own little ecosystem and when it comes out it's unrecognizable. I can't un-know that and now neither can you.

The you don't say had so much emotion ranging from "I'm not paid enough for this to and you sure it's not stuck in your brain"🤣🤣🤣🤣

I've never used a tampon before. This just confirms that I'm doing fine with pads and don't need to change systems.

Things like these are why I'm so terrified of tampons. Pads forever!!

When I was on OB/Gyn rotations I saw a teenager who came with about 8 tampons stuck. Her super conservative parents never taught her about tampon hygiene so she thought she could leave them in and just keep adding more every period🤷🏻‍♀️. I’m shocked she didn’t get an infection. Education and conversation about period hygiene is important!!

I once got a tampon stuck…I was in junior high, I freaked out, called my sister, she then called my dad (my mother had died a couple years before this and I lived with him) he then called an on call nurse, I was in the bathroom, he was on the other side of the door, with the help of the nurse, my father relaying the information to me, I was able to get it out. I was humiliated but relieved…but now when I look back, I’m so thankful that 1) I knew immediately when I couldn’t remove it, that I was in trouble, and didn’t wait out of the embarrassment I felt. 2) that my father was such an amazing and loving person. It HAD to be just as uncomfortable for him. After it was all done, he just hugged me and told me everything was okay ❤️

I love the “Ok” at the end. The sign of a true Emergency/Triage Nurse that’s seen WAY too much shit.

Don't forget about the toxic shock syndrome. It can happen to people who had a tampon in for too long. You can literally die if you are suffering a toxic shock syndrome and don't see a doctor. Always make sure to change the tampon in time.

I have seen a case of toxic shock syndrome in the ER. She thankfully arrived before deathly Ill. The MD took one look at her peeling palms and immediately was able to diagnose her

She is so lucky that she didn’t have toxic shock as I have and it’s awful.

Ladies, as you can see from the comments, this happens in real life. It's nothing to be embarrassed about, we'd much rather be removing a tampon, a condom, anything that gets stuck as soon as you can possibly be seen. The key is to not ever wait this long. If you can't get it out, call your doctor, or go into a clinic where it can be safely removed. Not doing this can lead to infection(s) & significantly increases the risk if developing, (TSS) Toxic Shock Syndrome. Again, please do not be embarrassed when it comes to your health.

When I was younger than couldn’t get one out for 5 minutes and broke down in tears cause I would have to go to the hospital. I got it out on my own. I couldn’t imagine leaving one in for that long 😬

Having worked in a emergency room myself. I can safely say that every skit this guy does really happened at one time or another during his career.
