My coach used to tell me to always be on the phone with your non-punching hand. Then I would get tired and be like “they’re on speaker!”

I make sure I can feel the glove or hand on my face. That way I know it's there. I put more concentration into my non punching hand than my punching hand (during drills).

This is such an important habit to fix. When I first started, I kept dropping my non punching hand, and my sparring partners would capitalize that by landing a mean jab to my face 😂. You can drop your hands but that would be inviting your opponent to aim for the head. Protect your brain cells!

Hi Tony, you are spot on as to how common a mistake dropping your non punching hand (therefore your guard) is, regardless of experience. Sometimes it is caused by tiredness but, as you say, it IS a habit that can be rectified. I used to drop my my Right when throwing the Left Hook during sparring - my coach cured me of this by clipping me on the right side of the face with a glove or the pad when I did this and I quickly learned....! Great videos, particularly liked the series of punch combinations. Please could you do something about 'getting out of trouble', i.e. taking a punch and then getting trapped on the ropes ? Thanks Simon
