I can prove the Earth is round and rotating simply from longe rage shooting-the Coriolis Effect. Takes a little simple trig but basically when shooting long range(>1000M) and extreme long range(1500m), during the projectiles 6 even 10 sec flight time, you’ve to shoot where the target’s going to be, because the Earth has turned a bit and we’d have to compensate for this spinning.
Shooting south in the Northern Hemisphere means the firing line, rifle, marksman and bullet are moving slower than the target. By the time that bullet arrives at the target it has moved from the point of aim and the bullet hits to the right. Firing North they hit left.
It’s the opposite in the Southern hemisphere. It’s most prominent on the Equator as it’s spinning the fastest there, and to a lesser degree closer you get to the poles. When firing West they tend to hit low because the target is moving away during the flight time, firing East they hit high.
Longest shot I’ve even pulled off was some 1650m with a .338 Norma Magnum and a 24” barrel. Had similar results with .338 Lapua Mag. It took several $ rounds but I hit the damned thing! A lot of luck with wind down range. I’m sure those projectiles zigged and zagged a couple times. Cannot recall the glass but I believe it was a Leupold or maybe the Zeiss 🤔? The flight times are insane to the point you can have enough dwell to ask your spotter scoot over and watch your own hit(more appropriately misses) through the spotting scope, which I found pretty neat.
So the Earth is indeed round from what I’ve seen at very high altitude, and is indeed spinning, and it would have to be both to exhibit this unique phenomenon I’ve described.
