I always assumed that "Nero fiddled while Rome burned" was an implied metaphor describing a self-absorbed dictator ignoring massive internal problems that were destroying the empire.

The thing i hate most about the assumption of aliens building the pyramids is that some scientists/people want to discredit the capabilities of the ancient peoples, and cant fathom that in a way they were smarter than the modern person☝🏾🤷🏾‍♀️

The idea that Rome invented Jesus, but then persecuted Christians afterward could be boiled down to the change in an Emperor or a dynasty. They could have decided, “nah, this is not what Rome needs” and it wasn’t until Constantine that this flipped back to being Rome’s religion. (Even Emperor to Emperor this changed, Antoninus Pius stopped persecution, only for the next emperor, Marcus Aurelius, to blame them for a plague and start the persecution up again.)

Dan Brown’s novels are quite good, but he often makes things and posits them as true. Many historians and art experts absolutely hate him because he made a ton of people believe things that simply weren’t true.

Seems to me that all conspiracy theories are ethnocentric in that even though they encompass the entire world, they are built on specific cultural values and knowledge. The CTs on this list are largely Western in their content as was alluded to by the narrator.

To that end, there must be conspiracy theories from Asia or Africa whose basis are Asian and African. Would love to hear about them and see how the West is pushed to the peripheral in favour of Afrocentric/Asiacentric ideas.
