for now only solution to this issue is to use windowed full screen mode...
update3: it also happens when you have multiple virtual desktops when you try to move programs in between vd... i found about this later, , , , i wanna make video about this but it looks like some people just dont want to see the bugs 🤣 the main reason I updated my pc to 24h2 was to daily drive it and if i find bugs make videos

kil0bit, this is wrong.

The black screen issue is a driver issue, I had this issue with a wrongly installed beta AMD driver. Cleaned all, reinstalled a stable driver, no more issues.

What's more important, is that 24H2 brings a MAJOR fix for several CPUs that actually do increase the game performance by up to 9% in some cases. Everyone in the tech industry is talking about it.

What are you using as a screen? Supposedly there's a bug with Nvidia drivers when using DSC where alt tabbing games leads to a black screen for a while. DSC is automatically enabled when you're using resolutions/refreshes higher than the bandwith on DisplayPort or HDMI 2.1 would usually allow (like 4k 240Hz or 1440p 360Hz).

I switched to Linux thanks to Microsoft themselves. The funny thing is, I have been perfectly fine using Windows since XP. After upgrading to Windows 11 and having countless issues, one of which actually messed up my personal files after a simple update, I finally said: "It's time to leave."

Ive had this issue before 24h2. My screen also goes black when i alt tab as well, but it is caused by the fact that I am using dsc, display stream compression, and its a well known issue on nvidia gpus. Ive had to run apps in borderless window to bypass the issue for now

I also upgraded to 24H2 and I play a lot of games, I have a Nvidia GPU as well, but I did not ever face this issue. However, instead of having a black screen, I had screen flickering for 1 or 2 seconds when I use alt tab to switch to a different window from the game (when the game is running in exclusive full screen mode), there is absolutely no issue when the game is set to borderless windowed mode.

This happens to me too on 24H2 with an RTX 2060, I have 3 monitors and when I ALT-TAB out of a game all 3 go black for around 5 seconds and my audio cuts out too

This issue is not new to new windows build may i correct. My friend who has a new PC has the current 23H2 build and he gets black screen while alt tabbing and sometimes freezes in black screen

Check your fullscreen mode in the game. If it is set to exclusive, then you will face this issue. Set your full-screen mode to borderless full-screen. It is not an error or bug. It has always been like this.

black screen for 5-10 secs is not a major issue to not upgrade. just a minor annoyance. hopefully, whatever is causing the issue it gets fixed in the final release version.

I have this issue too in some games, what fixed it was using "windowed fullscreen" instead of fullscreen in the game's graphics settings.

I have the same behavior on 23h2 with my nvidia card. To be honest i don't think it's a bug, i even think it might be a fix to fullscreen mode. The alt+tab without the screen going black is supposed to happen only on bordeless mode
