I drank a lot as a teen and while I worked on Wallstreet. It was liquid lunch, sometimes liquid breakfast. I didn't even want to eat, I didn't know I had a problem until I realized how hard it was to not go out and have a few. I finally realized that i got very sick of the hangovers. I decided that I loved not having a hangover MORE than I loved having a good time (and a hangover the next day). Thank God I was only a wine or beer drinker and not liquor. I drank from the ages of 15-21 heavily. I quit after I had my first child. My husband stopped drinking first and I was never an alone drinker (thank God again!) so I stopped as well. I hated feeling icky while taking care of my child. I felt like a skell and wanted to feel better about myself. I can drink at parties now or weddings or special events but then not think of it again till the next big event. Now I don't even drink at those. You really have to want a different life to quit. You have to want it more than you want that drink. So I am now 62 and looking back I am so glad that I made that decision because if I had kept going at that pace I would probably be very sick or dead by now. PS anyone can do this, never let anyone scare you into thinking you can't. If I could quit that and smoking butts ANYONE can. I smoked for 40 years! Been 14 years smoke free. Jesus helps so talk to him for help, he is all you need. I also like not feeling addicted to anything. It's very empowering.

Been watching a lot of these videos for inspiration. I loved my wine too! I loved it to much. (Every night)for many years. I’m 5 days sober today. I feel like I’ve lost my best friend. You give me hope and inspiration. Thank you ❤

I stopped drinking again, up to 43 days sober and also hugely cut back on my valium use. So things are going well.

Thank you for the video! I am over 3 years sober now, I quit on 7/22/21 I do take it one day at a time, AA was also not for me, I use a sober app especially early on, and the decision to get sober was the best gift I could ever give myself!! 💯💪🥳😁

I’m 56 and drank my whole life. Sometimes more sometimes less. I never thought it would be possible to completely quit until I learned all I needed to know from the Huberman podcast. After learning what it did to my body, I immediately went to war on alcohol. In the past I would always allow a drink to squeeze back into my life since I didn’t grasp the ramifications. Great show!!

In my 30’s to early 40’s I played poker, sports bet and drank each weekend with several large groups of men. I noticed 3+ men age 50 or older dying in our groups each year before I realized your lifestyle determines your death style. Still play poker just no booze

I was laughing when I was watching this. I had the same experience. It's now three months for me, and over 50 years, I was several different types of a drinker, morphing as I went through the various life stages. I suppose I was always a functional drinker though, which has it's own set of challenges. I think one thing that worked for me, was to make a determined continuous effort to be mindful of my thoughts and emotions, and to short circuit the drinking thought loop before it took over my thought process. Keep up the good work, I always get something out of them,
helps keep me going in the right direction.

Thank you for these videos! It helps so much to hear about others' experiences. Interesting that you mention it's typical to start seeing big changes around the 90 day mark. I quit drinking for 4 months over the holidays last year and into January. I never felt well and was tired and foggy the entire time even though I drank plenty of water (I thought) and slept a lot. Also, I lost zero pounds in 4 months so that was discouraging. Note: I did get Covid in month 4 so that probably contributed to feeling like crap! Maybe I need to try a longer break and be patient. Today is day 1. I'll keep watching!

Thank you for this video ❤ wine was a slippery slope for me. Could you talk about how to find friends and sober activities? I’m also an introvert and AA is not for me.

If only I knew how easy it would be, it’s been over 2 years and I don’t have any cravings at all, for me the key difference was that I didn’t suffer withdrawal, not even within the first 30 days after go’ogling and following Steffon Barkload’s and quitting because I just wanted to.

I wonder, when it gets easier? How many days you have to be alcohol free to stop thinking about it? I hate these thoughts
