Hey Gang! What a special video we have for you today. The one and only @buildshow made a trip over to Houston to help us with a "bomber" install of these Pella Impervia Fiberglass windows. Matt gave us his best advice, opinions, and install practices for these windows to make sure they last as long as possible, and we hope you can pick up a few things for your window installs, because as you can see, it's a lot easier than you may think! Thanks for watching guys, next video is going to be nuts!

Pretty sure collabs like this are how you actually, in fact, break the internet! LOVE THIS CHANNEL!

10 minutes into the video and that's by far the most work I've ever seen Matt do 😂

I'd schedule the drywall delivery for day before window install. Get that drywall 10 ft + back from the window openings and being paranoid... cover it with plastic just in case the window installation is delayed.

Fewest problems to overcome.

31:00 I use a screen spline tool to roll backer into place. Doesn't cut the foam and gets it seated in tight places! Great tool!

Before I retired about two years ago, I was a professional window cleaner. I recommend that you remove the stickers before you install the big windows. Hopefully, they just peel right off. If not, be >>extremely careful<< if you use a razor blade as Pella has a reputation for leaving "glass fines" on the glass. When a razor comes in contact with the glass fine, it can scratch the glass (even when using sooapy water). This is especially true with post construction window cleaning. If you have them professionally cleaned, the company may ask you to sign a "scratch waiver." This is normal. Also, be sure to tell the company that your windows are UV coated so that they don't use any steel wool. Love the project!!

What an awesome collaboration. It's great to see Matt at the Stud Pack Project. So many great tips and techniques discussed. Those are beautiful windows with fiberglass frame and texture. Great job, Jordan on picking and buying the great windows. Nice lexel caulking, Paul. "Think like a rain drop" Pressure sensitive adhesive "PSA" Have an awesome trip back to Austin, Matt! GRK Cabinet Screws - who knew? Those are awesome! Too bad not black, not that it would make any difference, cuz you won't see them. Backing rod is an awesome tip. Look forward to seeing those massive windows get installed. Awesome video Stud Pack Team 👍🏻👍🏻🥰🥰

Pro tip when using shims.

Instead of forcing it up the way u did you could of slipped the 3rd shim in between the other two and tapped it in gently with a hammer until you got it where u wanted

This collaboration is EPIC Two of my favorite builders in one show, this is a good day, Many Thanks to Paul and Jordan to invite Mr. Build Show himself to your dreamhouse build, many thanks too Matt for assisting our boys from stud pack. I've been a fan of these two builders for years now and they have taught me a lot, I mean a lot. Thanks again, and as Joe Dirt would say, KEEP ON, KEEPING ON guys don't ever stop building.

Seeing the quality and craftsmanship that Stud Pack puts into each job, has made a stamp on all carpenters of better knowledge. Having Stud Pack shows the right way the job should be done right. Learning different skills and products to make carpentry a word and not abuse or short-cut corners. While his family learns from building inspectors about shoring up a wall and meeting the challenge head-on. While getting the bracing to do it right without the walls falling down. Then bringing other people on the show to understand their skills too. As a carpenter, each time I watch your shows, it brings excitement to me. I want to be a part of your building of this house in Theory, but watching your shows is still the best treatment. Keep up the Best Work. Thank You

I like to use a piece of beveled cedar siding on the sill before I put the tape on the rough opening. It provides a slope to direct the water to the outside. I do the same for doors as well.

This is one of the cleanest installs I've seen while perusing videos today. Kudos for your professionalism.

Coach is best explaining everything. He doesn’t need to do the work JUST explain it. Why? He is a natural teacher! Great episode
