For me I think Obi Wan knew exactly how Darth Vader/Anakin would react. And used Padme to gain the upper hand. In my opinion that was a low blow and showed how the Jedi became careless.

The fact that Obi wan had to emotionally abuse Anakin with Padme before fighting so he had a chance shows how powerful Anakin was
