don't clean the tank that the alge is their food and also hake sure to top up the water as it avaporates

You are not supposed to clean the bottom of the tank, or really at all. They eat the algae on the bottom. Along with the growth food its a complete diet, I believe. Its hard to resist but only a small water chage once in a while is needed
