An unboxing and review of the Real Live Meramids kit

The Real Live Mermaids kit was released in 2018. It's a Sea-Monkeys knockoff product and was only sold at Walmart. In this video I go into detail doing an unboxing, set up and review of the kit, as well as giving tips on raising and looking after the brine shrimp.

Imagine how dissapointing this would be! Like, Sea Monkeys are a stretch, but these are just completely out the window. But this does give me a good idea for a Siren themes sea monkey tank.

I remember when I saw them in Walmart years ago (because I was looking for actual Sea-Monkeys for none where in sight) I saw them in the toy isle selling for like $8-$10 dollars. The Walmart website hosts second party sellers so the price of $23 must have been from one of those. I bought this off eBay for like $17 and it is definitely not worth that but I wanted the pink tank 😂. In my experience mine didn't hatch and I had given them over two weeks so my guess is that mine were kept in a weird environment that affected the eggs in the pouches. Personally I don't really mind the magnification bubbles but that's just me. I'll probably try to hatch some Sea-Monkeys or brine shrimp in the tank once the cold front goes away in my area. I guess after reviewing the flimsy lime green tank you can't really get any worse, this is definitely a step up even though it's a blatant copy.

I would love to see more off brand sea monkey videos. Maybe even a revival colony of the yellow bear Ali express tank but with sea monkeys. Your definitely my favorite creator.

I've never had any Sea-Monkeys myself, but it would have been cool to own them.

My friend recommended them to me once they saw my smokies collection but from my research I read that they end up eating each other and the last one would just starve? I don't know, I've been hesistant to try it but was wondering what your thoughts are? I think it would be an interesting video for you to try your hand on some triops :)

Also, I can't remember if I mentioned this on one of your other videos, if I did, sorry for bringing it up again.

But I recently read about Chocolate and Vanilla egg sacks for the sea monkeys, Chocolate being eggs on the way and Vanilla being live babies on the way. Have you been able to differentiate this or have you only had live babies?

I've noticed that some of my smokies have both brown and white egg sack but I don't have microscope to put them under to see if that is true :)

Hallo Jon. Great video! This is a really nice tank for sure. The plastic is very sturdy, and I used mine for my Aqua dragons, after the original tank I had ordered came crushed in. I'd love to see you do a review on one of the square-shaped Aqua dragon tanks, I have one of these as a backup tank and it seems to be well constructed, unlike their tank shaped like an egg. That tank is made of very flimsy plastic and I'd avoid it at any cost.

Always very informative and entertaining vids, I recently bought a sea monkeys zoo kid off one of your amazon links, i've managed to succesfully get at least 4 shrimps to hatch and live for a few days now, any tips for maintaining their lifespan?

@Picocosmos: I have another option for the heater, i glue a USB ledstrip in the base (the ones you can cut to size), you do not only have a nice light, but also the temperature stay's at a nice 25°C here! And you don't spoil the sight with that heater ;)

Have you ever looked into keeping giant triops? They are a similar sort of packaged water egg pet thing would love to see your take on these!
