Unboxing a vintage Sea Monkeys Penquarium toy.

In this video I do an unboxing of the penquarium and show you how to use it by adding Sea Monkeys from my Ocean Zoo tank,. I also give some tips on how to get sea monkeys fully grown after 5 years with a time lapse of their growth. I remember my friend got a seamonkeys aquarium for her birthday in the late 80's. I saw them grow up and I told my friend they actually are shrimp. I knew about the type of shrimp because my family owned a large aquarium in your basement and we fed the fish the same shrimp and we breed them to have a reliable food source. I taught her about the shrimp. I would never put them inside a tiny tank and shake them though. Using a pen would shake them up and probably cause stress. They need calm environment and a nice home. The regular aquarium works best, put them in the morning sun for a few hours everyday like a window and they will be comfortable. The shrimp like to mate in spring and the babies hach in a few days depending on the weather. What's amazing about them their eggs can go dormant and choose to hach in a comfortable environment. I'm pretty sure the reason the portable idea didn't work well is because people care about their shrimp and don't want to hurt them. I think it was a horrific idea to make a portable aquarium. How would you like to be forced into a tiny space and shook around and watched by giants? That's a nope for me. 👍 They need love and care like all life does. ❤️

The sea monkey watch makes sense in terms of product timing. 1997 was when Tamagotchis first got big in the west. Making the sea monkeys portable would capture some of that market.

My Friend daughter got a pack of sea monkeys not too long ago and she's working on hatching some! currently the filter thing is being waited 24 hours for not to mention she's gen z and really exited lol.

Your channel has inspired me to get some sea monkeys and actually try. I feel like as a kid with little knowledge and instructions mine wouldn't even hatch n if they did they died soon after :( But with your channel I'm going to have a beautiful thriving tank! I’ve seen a few “on the go” Sea Monkey “tanks.” Did they even allow this kind of stuff in school?? This is such an odd idea. Unique, in a cruel way. I can’t believe it even comes with the packets! That’s so sad. Glad this kit wasn’t popular. Poor Sea Monkeys ❤️

i started my research on brine shrimp to get some treats i could farm for my aquarium fish and came across your channel in the process from it, not using these kits though but the ways you've found to care for them are great so now i have a tank (3 gal round edges acrylic!) that i set up with a air pump with a diy tiny sponge filter on it, lol and the miniheater you linked on other videos! just waiting for the eggs to hatch and all, might have to get a nice magnifying glass for my parents though- I can see these guys pretty well with my naked eye but my parents cant and still get upset over not being able to see the red stripes on our chilli rasboras very well. Thanks for everything :))
