🧐Frequently Asked Questions About Our Online Lessons:
Q❓: I have no experience with katana. Will I still be able to catch up?
A💡: You don’t need any previous katana martial arts experience to participate in our lessons.

Seki Sensei, the instructor of the online lessons, will carefully instruct you on how to handle the katana regardless of your level. You will also be able to access all the videos of the past lessons so you can watch what every other student has learned. You can also send us videos of your progress, and Seki Sensei will be happy to give you feedback.

Q❓: What is the right length of the Iaito (zinc alloy training katana) I should use?
A💡: Please purchase an Iaitō at least two blocks longer than the standard length.

The standard length for Seki Sensei is about 177cm, so he should use a 2.45 Shaku long katana. However, he uses a 2.6 Shaku-long katana that is supposed to be used by someone 190cm tall. If the katana is too short, it becomes too easy to draw, which is not good for training.

Q❓: Can I join even if I belong to a different Ryuha style?
A💡: Yes, it’s not a problem at all.

The Seki Sensei himself has trained in more than five styles and various other weapons. If you don’t want others to know that you are participating, you can join the online lessons with your camera off. To have the Sensei check your progress, you can send us a video of you practicing.

Seki Sensei makes both versions of the Gyakute-Nuki look so easy. I struggle with these myself. In version 1 he's on a straight vertical line up and down, which I have trouble doing haha. The second version is just dangerous to do with a real katana practicing. If you don't bring your forward leg back in time you are gonna have a bad day 😆. So this video was very helpful thank you.

Seki Sensei's technique is so clean that you can't tell if the reps are the same footage all over again. Astounding.

This is one of the most impressive and also helpful videos! Slowing down, showing the movements again with helpful tips is so nice.

I'm glad have some experience with Kendo, at the very least. But still the Iaijutsu & Kenjutsu components of these can pose a challenge. (But, I _will_ master this! 😆) Thanks to the team for the lessons! Gyakuté-nuki was already cool, the 2 extra versions pop-up out of nowhere! 🤣 Kudos to Seki-sensei & his mad skills! A thumbs-up to you & Tsukada-sensei!

i would love to see a hema trained swordsman and seki spar with their preferred weapon without knowing what the other would use then use shogo to discuss things they noticed the other style does and things they like and dislike about the other style

Quick question, how would a Japanese sword expert handle a Rapier?

HattaTHEZulZILLA

I like how he fights in socks, very realistic. Would also like to see a gladius in his hands, musashi wrote about keeping a short sword next to your bed and I keep the cold steel gladius machete next to mine, it clears a path through the woods almost instantly probably about the same to dismember a body

Can you have sensei try swordsman ship with the Keyblade

I wonder why budo places focus on sheathing the sword/katana, while other cultures/schools may focus on the active conflict time. Is it cultural or practical?

As usual names of techniques overlap with other japanese martial arts. Kani basami is also a forbidden technique in judo, where you take down the opponent by scissor grabbing his legs with your 2 legs. It is forbidden due to a large number of knee injuries it causes to people. Recently one martial arts youtuber got his leg severely broken by it and he might never recover fully from it
