The First World War
When the war broke out in 1914 there was growing political unrest in India against British rule.

Germany had even tried to stir up anti-british movements and rebellion.

However such fears were put to rest when India rallied to Britain’s cause. It was believed that India’s proposal of independence could best be served this way.

Everyone seems to forget India's contribution to the first World War, they really need more recognition.

A big thanks to you for uploading this video... many people don't know that India was a big contributor of troops to the Commonwealth. Not only in WW 1 but also in WW2. Many Indian soldiers were also awarded Victoria Cross for their services.

India was not rewarded with independence or self government from British rule after the war which would stimulate Mahatma Gandhi’s independence movement further.

We Indians have made tremendous sacrifices in Both the world

we provided the allies with tremendous resources but sadly people don't realise

my grandfather fought and has received medal from British army and queen for

we just hope the current generation of people of Western countries can atleast show some respect to Indian army

I think you should have mentioned the disproportionate Sikh involvement in the war. Sikhs make up 1.9% of India's population, yet they made up 40% of India's troops.

My great great granddad spoke very highly of the Sikhs, he died in the Somme.

My great grandfather was in the 125 napiers rifle INDIAN ARMY, and lost his life in a battlefield in france ww1, now he is the clan diety in our village and is remembered as a great kshtriya who sacrificed his life following his dharma.

I cant thank simple history enough for keeping my great grandfathers legacy alive through this video, he still watches and smiles over us everyday of remeberence.
