The Ottoman Empire fought three wars (Italo-Turkish War, First and Second Balkan Wars) from 1900-1914 (before WW1 started). It was completely exhausted but the Ottomans chose to uphold their alliance with the German Empire. Something that Italy did not do.

The Ottomans lacked in resources, however, they also inflicted a few defeats on the British forces in Iraq. At the Battle of Hanna, Battle of Wadi, and ultimately at the Siege of Kut-al-Amara.

it is incorrect to say the Ottomans didn't do well against the British on mosapotamian front.
they held off for a log ass time, killed a ton of Brits then when the Brits got overwhelming numbers in the end of the war they retreated in an organized fashion.
these same soldiers were used to later beat Armenians, French, Italians, and of course Greeks.
note, there wasn't much support in France or England to pursue more war therefore they gave back Istanbul

The Ottoman Army fought in many fronts: *Caucasus theatre of war vs Russian Empire and Armenian Rebels; Persian campaign (vs Russian and British troops in Persia/Iran); Thesalonika front (alongside Bulgaria, Austria-Hungary and 2nd German Reich) vs Entente troops in Greece; Palestine - Sinai front vs British in Egypt and Arab rebels (led by [Sir] Lawrence of Arabia); and Mesopotamian vs British and their colonial troops (Hindus).*

Ottoman Turks also send additional divisions to Eastern Front to help Austria-Hungary and Imperial Germany armies against Russian Empire and Kingdom of Romania.

12k Bosniak soldiers from the Sancak of Novi Pazar fought at galipolli, as they answered the call from the Caliph. Only few survived... Today we call them Djurumlije (Which means volounteers in old bosnian)
