I served as a conscript for my military service in 1984. I served in heavy field artillery 132 Rovereto Aries division. Proud of my service to my fatherland.

Luigi Cadorna was a noble that hated meeting his soldiers because they were poor and ignorant. He was an elitarist guy.
Armando Diaz tried to make his men feel good and happy about themselves improving their conditions and motivating them.

You forgot to mention that the Italians were tricked and don't get all the land they had wanted and had agreed to get (eastern Adriatic, Dalmatia and Austrian littoral) for helping

the most important historical thing is missing: Austria-Hungary had a SIGNED pact with Italy that specified that they HAD to inform their italian allies for ANY war actions or preparation for war with any enemies.
What did the Austrian did in 1914? They declared war on Serbia without informing Italy. Thus betraying the Alliance, and not complying with what they signed.
Italy then, outraged and LEGALLY, destroyed the pact and went to war with them. And won.

My great grandfather was born in Potenza in 1898 and was sent to fight the Austrians in the alps when he was 19. It’s weird that now, exactly a century later, I’m as old as he was when he was drafted but my life is so different for the better than his was at my age partially because of his sacrifice.
