Most of us think of ourselves as partial descendants of those mass invaders - the Romans, and then the Vikings - throughout Europe and North Africa. However, despite their reputation for ravishing, alongside the pillaging, both groups of imperialists left behind surprisingly little DNA residue in their colonized populations. If you are curious about your heritage, but not to the point of ordering an ancestry DNA test, there is one possible indicator which is surprisingly close to hand - or foot in this case - your foot shape.

Greek foot here. My bestie has always made fun of my "finger toes", but I can pick things up off the ground without bending down.

I have an Egyptian foot, and I'm so glad I do! I think it's not only the best looking shape of any of the feet, but its also less likely to have ingrown toenail's and fits most standard shoe sizes better.

I’m a Greek foot, FYI you can wear a 1/2 shoe/boot size higher and it allows your toe to stretch out more. Feels great

I thought I was Irish, but after watching this, I've discovered I'm Egyptian.

My feet appear to reflect an alien culture unknown to historians.

Mine is Egyptian. Designed for immediate acceleration at a running start - which requires the maximum "dig-in" from the big toe. The rest of the toes are required to "grip" the earth. Declining to the little toe - to prevent it from "grip" and instead - to release from the ground using the outer ball of the foot to skid, or "brake-on-the-turn".

Just another day in 2020. Spent some time pondering my feet.

Irish with Egyptian toes, someone in my ancestry got some explaining to do! 😂

When I was a child growing up in rural Missouri it was common knowledge that anyone with that longer second toe was the "boss of the family" and there was no point in arguing with such a person, especially female, because you were going to lose.

Same with the jaw! I had a dentist who told me I was of English decent since I had a tiny jaw & a mouth that could barely hold 24 teeth. He said he could tell anyone’s ancestry from looking at their mouths! Last year, I found out my biological parents names...I had gotten a lot of information from a half brother, and he confirmed that I was English & Irish & a bonus was that my father was semi famous as a lead singer & guitar player! Also that I have a cousin whose stage name is Brenda Lee! Which is wild because I have always loved her song ‘Rocking ‘Round the Christmas Tree!’

I have a Greek foot with a longer second toe. When I was a child, my grandmother, who was full of old wives tales, told me that it meant I was going to marry a rich man when I grew up! Lol. I have finger toes and can pick things up off of the floor with my feet. My husband told me that I could perch on telephone wires with my toes! I stand all day at my job and am feeling foot pain now.

I did ballet which totally messed with my toes and apparently my heritage. I used to be a Greek foot shape but now I am Roman... I actually know that I am from Celtic and Viking decent so my feet are having an extreme identity crisis. Thanks 2020! As if my poor toes needed more problems!

This is quite accurate, I got "greek" feets and I was always a fast runner and the sports I was best at was rollerblading, ice skating, skatebording, skiing, surfing, any sport where balace play a big role, now later in life (past 40) I got problems with my feets (Plantar fasciitis) as my job require I stand up most of my work day.
