Our opposable thumb is said to be the key to human success as a species. Our hands are uniquely helpful and expressive parts of our anatomy. Research over the years has shown that the unique configuration of your hand and fingers gives nuanced insight into many aspects of not only your ancestry, but also recent events from your foetal development to your occupation.

I'm just being picky, but I believe what you actually see when you touch your thumb and little finger together (if you see anything), is actually a tendon! If that's correct, yes, it is attached to a muscle, but it's not the muscle that you see.

This is fascinating. My left hand has a longer ring finger while my right hand ring finger is even with my index. I also have double joints from my elbows, wrists, and fingers.

0:45 When comparing people, you have shown "with", ( Right hand) and "without", (Left hand ). Scientific methodology would compare the same hand, in the same angle, in the same lighting conditions.

What the video didn't mention are the two different thumb joints. There is what I call the creepy one where the joint is much further away and the normal looking type which one can pull the thumb towards the middle of the palm and you can't see the thumb whatsoever.

Outward longer finger relative to inward creates a slight imbalance and confidence in pushing or controlling objects in your hand. Larger index finger slightly helps your striking down or outward abilities. Even finger length allows for a balance or well roundedness of abilities. These tendencies might make one better at certain jobs which, in turn, could help confidence in those areas requiring specific actions. But there’s nothing like radical obsession that makes you get something done.

Men using steroids to get massive arms were found, strangely, to be more prone to aggression.

years ago there was a psychologist/palmist named stokes who could tell amazing things from the hands in the same terms
as this vid but in much more depth
Psychology is a movable feast and no two agree, this could have been better
Thanks

( 0:34 ) Someone needs to do a study to see if how many Olympic Gold Medalists in swimming, judo, gymnastics have that forearm muscle compared to those who don't. I would suspect that the muscle, which helps apes and monkeys swing through trees, would help swimmers, judokas, and gymnasts. The muscle may even give soldiers, who are fighting in dense jungles, an edge in surviving. 🤔

Prof Maciej Hennenberg is actually a brilliant man. He was instrumental in getting a criminal convicted who wore something like a Balaklava over his head, while committing the crime, but whose ear shape was still visible. And because that bloke's ear shape was still able to be defined from camera footage, and was unique, I believe there was a successful conviction.

However, if a trait develop disadvantages only later in life, such as arthritis for instance, it can be passed down in a fairly high degree.

Divide the length of the index finger by the length of the ring finger. According to Dr. Karan Raj of the NHS, this ratio determines the size of the male member. The smaller the index finger, the larger. This fact deserved a mention in the video.

The muscle pops out on one wrist, but not the other. Am I considered a mutant?😂
