2 big issues I’m also seeing in the comments with the pro specifically - phone turns off permanent while charging. Sometimes a hard reset works to turn it back sometimes it doesn’t. And system data spiking to insane levels temporarily until you restart. I wonder if those are related and the spike of system data is bricking the phone.

The battery issue is iOS 16 and not the device. I have the iPhone 13 Pro Max, and I went from charging every 2-3 days, to having to charge every day. I'm hoping Apple fixed whatever is causing this in iOS 16

Cool tip is to set focus mode that doesn’t block or silence anything but dims lockscreen. It makes picture dark but at least always on display is then black background with just clock and no pic. It saves a bit more battery

I have a base iphone 12 right now, battery health at 95%. iOS 16.0.3 had a lot of battery drain, but since I updated to 16.1, that really fixed the battery.

Since updating to iOS 16 I get worse battery life on iPhone 11 Pro too, so I think it’s more OS, less iPhone 14

Yeah the wallpaper thing really bothers me. The fact you also can't change your wallpaper without making a new lock screen and adding your widgets back is an example of not even considering the end user experience when designing a system.

I love the widgets and the extra information I get at a glance from my lock screen, but the who implementation feels extremely unpolished.

So the Dynamic Wallpaper feature that they ditched… There’s a reason why 😉

The Home Screen text doesn’t change between white/black based on the hue of your wallpaper anymore. If you have a lighter colored wallpaper, it’s more difficult to read the text because it’s always white now.

By ditching the “dynamic” text & wallpapers, they’re trying to get you to subconsciously choose darker hued wallpapers by default, so that they use less power when the Always-On Display is active. They’re *reaallyyy* trying hard to make the battery life hit less obvious there lol.

I'm not mocking you for this funny mistake in English, but it was funny. But I want to point out that 1 hertz is still pronounced like "1 hurts", but it's not the plural of anything it's just the unit for frequency, so still pronounced with the Z. When you say, "one hurt" it sounds funny. Don't hate me, just enjoy a funny moment.

Something else that’s gone with iOS 16 is live wallpapers. That’s really put me off updating from iOS 15 as seeing the moving fish wallpapers or the exclusive set that comes with every iPhone makes the device feel unique and special. Seeing Apple take that away is something I’m not happy with and for that I’m not ready to make the transition. I do love the always on display though!!

I am not having battery drain issues. It’s way better than my 12 Pro.
I use Always on Display, stream videos, & always looking stuff up, & checking notifications & emails.
My phone has been off the charger since 7am & it is now 6:37 pm & my battery is at 62%.🤷🏽‍♀️

I’ve been waiting for the AOD for years….YEARS! I think it’s really the only thing I miss from my old Galaxy phone. I switched to the iPhone when the XR came out, I almost switched back to Android because i missed my AOD so much but since I had other Apple products I decided to stick with the iPhone.

16.1 beta 3 fixed my battery life and turned on AOD again 😅

One thing I have lost and am not sure how to get back is the transit times widget. It was so useful. It saved me having to install an app for transit tracking. But when I upgraded to the iPhone 13 it disappeared.
