Reading the Bible is precisely how I became a "calvinist."

I used to be part of the charismatic church but I left because it felt like they were more focused on the gifts-especially speaking in tongues- more than what it takes to be saved. I went about looking for answers then I stumbled upon Justin Peters. I know his channel will greatly help you, dear brothers. God bless!

He knows how dependant we are upon our Lord God.

If you're belief is named after a man, you might want to reconsider your beliefs.

I was a typical Southern Baptist and studied at a conservative SBC seminary - decidedly not Calvinist. They did teach me how to study and exegete the scriptures. The result, not surprisingly, was to embrace the absolute sovereign rule of God over all of His creation.

How many of you read verses to other Christians early in your walk (verses like Proverbs 16:9, Isaiah 46:9-11, John 6:44, Ephesians 1:4, or Romans 9) and you were told you sound like a Calvinist before you ever knew what the word Calvinist meant? I'll raise my hand first.

Why would I call myself a Calvinist instead of a Christian? Sounds like idolatry to me.

I read the bible 3 times but I never become a Calvinist, why? I don't know but one thing I know I became a true Christian.. and I developed a love and reverence of Jesus's wisdom

Typically in my experience people don't read the Bible

Leighton Flowers is the man who went to a Romans 9 debate yet at no point actually went through the text of Romans 9 but instead regaled us on how babies aren't born with callouses. That debate is part of the reason why im currently a Calvinist.

1) Leighton Flowers is a straight-up heretic who preaches merited grace; 2) I became what you all call Calvinist by reading Scripture, not by reading Calvin.

I heard only the doctrine of election in Calvinism. I suppose that I also heard that Calvin believed in baptism of babies. Knowing that the Baptism part was incorrect I was certain that election was as well. Strangely now I can scarcely pick up my Bible without seeing it there in black and white. I’m Baptist and I’m pretty sure my pastor almost had an aneurysm when I shared this with him.

Thats crazy because Ive never met a mechanical engineer who became one by just reading a book. Lieghton's arguments are about as smooth brained as they get.

I tend to think all the things you said to your charismatic teacher were not by their necessity Calvinist.

Reading and by the Holy Spirit showing you exactly what’s written in the word of God is the only way you’ll understand. It’s right there in front of your face and day, but God amen. It’s not Calvinism. It’s just biblical Christianity.

None of these church titles of denominations matter at all. Repent for the kingdom of YA is near. The church has audaciously tried to replace Israel true Israel. Christ is coming for his ppl called by his name not Calvin

Can't agree with the predestination thing. Nor the 'majority goes to hell forever' thing. Nor the complacency engendered by the 'world is only going to get worse' thing.
