Hi Mr. Flynn. This video really helped me out! I just had an idea for AA HL IA to model the average attendance in stadiums for NBA games and correlate it with an average ticket price or number of games won throughout the season model. The question I would answer would probably be what was the best year for an ...x... nba team fan to support/watch the ...x... team. Not sure if it's complex enough. Wanted to get your thoughts on it!

Hi Mr Flynn, thanks for this video! After watching this, I came up with the idea of modelling the Ain Dubai and determining at what angle and height can you look at Burj Khalifa's tip. Is this a suitable IA and is the reason behind wanting to investigate this solid enough? I’m also an AA HL student so is this enough, if not how can I extend it?

Hello Mr. Flynn! After watching the video, I came up with the idea of using the sinusoidal modeling to analyze the variation of temperatures over the years of a certain country. I had also thought about using statistics to make a prediction, for example, when will this country be able to reach 50ºC ? I would like to ask for your opinion and if you see it suitable for a IA topic for a AA HL student. Thank you!

Hi Mr Flynn. For myAASL IA i am modeling the heart rate when different amounts of caffeine are consumed. I am very lost since my teacher is not helping us much, I’m not really sure how to develop the topic. I’ve collected my data, graphed it and found the polynomial model but im not sure what else to do. Your help is greatly appreciated 💛

Hello Mr Flynn, my math teacher hasn’t been very helpful in the IA process and I was having a bit of difficulty choosing between two topics. I could either model the prices of bitcoin and ethereum, comparing them to decide which one would be a better option to buy or model and predict a La Liga football season using Poisson models. Neither ideas are super original so I was also wondering if there were any ways to implement any spins on them. Please leave any suggestions you have

Hi Mr.Flynn, thank you for your help. I want to ask you a question about my IA (AIHL)
In Taipei, there are two bike stations near where I live. The bike station was often empty, the app on my phone updated extremely slowly so I had to always gamble everytime I went out. If the bike station is empty, I need to walk to bike station in the opposite direction which is also further away from where I live. I need to figure out my strategy before I go out, so i want to figure out the probability of a bike station going empty between 7-8pm and the probability that the bike station will be refilled within 5 minutes given that it is empty. This is because if the probability that the empty bike station is refilled within 5 minutes is high, I will stay at the nearest station to wait because it takes more than 5 minutes to walk to the station further away.
I will record the bike number of the station every 5 minutes and I will record from 7 to 8pm, then I will do this for 7 days.
1. then I will find the mean and standard deviation,
2. then I will make a normal distribution graph
3. then I will use normal distribution graph to find the probability of the bike station going empty.

Do you think this will work?

Hi Mr Flynn, thanks for this video! After watching this, I came up with the idea of modelling the London Eye and determining how long you will be above the height of Big Ben to take a photo of it from a higher angle, which isn’t possible from other positions. Is this a suitable IA and is the reason behind wanting to investigate this solid enough? I’m also an AA HL student but I haven’t been able to come up with any ideas to extend this idea using maths specific to the HL course - do you have any ideas? Would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks!

Hello Mr. Flynn! I have been having a lot of trouble with the math a&a HL IA as my teacher has not helped us through the process at all. Through various examples I have seen student use their own data to base their IA on (for example in thisone they find the times on the ferris weel themselves). Is that necessary?
I have been thinking about doing my IA in probability(although I am not fixated on the idea) and specifically on other the birthday paradox or on passwords( How long would it take to be able to correctly guess a password? How much safer does a password get by adding symbols or numbers?) . I do not know if these topics are too easy for the IA or if they are okay?
