In a surprising turn of events, Kimberly Coates, the Oklahoma teacher who was arrested in August for allegedly showing up to school drunk, has found herself in legal trouble once again. This time, Coates was arrested for allegedly appearing intoxicated at the Payne County Courthouse, where she was scheduled to attend a hearing related to her previous public intoxication charge. Body camera footage captures Coates telling officers that she "didn't understand" why she was being arrested, but she later admitted to having consumed a glass of wine before heading to the courthouse.

According to court documents, an on-duty deputy at the courthouse noticed Coates entering the building unsteady on her feet. The deputy observed that Coates had glazed eyes, slow and slurred speech, and smelled of alcohol. Despite her apparent intoxication, the deputy allowed Coates to attend her court appearance after processing her through security. However, the deputy continued to monitor Coates' movements through surveillance video, noting that she had to use the railing and wall to steady herself as she made her way from the second to the third floor. Once Coates was finished in the courtroom, the deputy approached her and confirmed that she had admitted to drinking wine in the morning. Consequently, Coates was arrested for public intoxication, handcuffed, and taken to the Payne County Jail without incident.

If anyone actually takes the time to look up her case, you would see she now has been released on her own recognizance in her husband’s custody only for him to transport her to a facility. She is now in a 90 day inpatient facility. Alcoholism is no joke, I pray she heals.

I've been sober for eighteen years, and when an alcoholic says they had " a glass of wine", multiply by four and you'll be in the ballpark.
she''s in bad shape and she might not be able to get sober even with inpatient treatment.. I've come across a lot of people like this over the years. It's tragic.

Hitting rock bottom is difficult enough. But to have it broadcasted *twice* is just ... boy. I genuinely feel bad for her. I'm a sober alcoholic w/ 10 years under my belt, but I'm just a few rough nights away from going back to this behavior. She needs serious help.

At this stage of her alcoholism, one glass of wine wouldn't have any effect on her. She's had at least a bottle! This lady needs help, desperately. I hope she gets the help she needs!

This is like going to court for robbery and trying to hold up the judge when you get there..

I had a similar situation. I had to go to court for a dui. I showed up drunk and was sent to 30 days in jail and 3 months in rehab. I am greatful I got arrested and put on the right path before I hurt someone. Drinking and driving is no joke

"One glass of wine" is code for "I filled UP the same glass of wine 5 times"

Showing up to court for public intoxication while publicly intoxicated is crazy. I really hope this woman gets the help she needs. So sad.

After being intoxicated at school, now here at court…heartbreaking 😢. I hope she gets the lifesaving help that she needs, both for herself, and everyone in contact with her.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a clearer representation of someone sick with alcoholism as this poor lady. God bless her.

This woman needs help in the form of long-term rehab. For the sake of her family and friends who care about her, I hope she gets the help she desperately needs. You have a really bad problem if you can't even show up to your court hearing sober.

Its an awful situation to be in, she probably couldn't have got to court without a drink inside her. I've been there myself and to turn up sober would mean being in alcohol withdrawal with the dry retching, shakes, crippling fear, sweats and hallucinations. I find it hard to even think about it today it's just so powerful, a seemingly small drink in the morning to relax you ends up a full on drunk again and again. The way I was stopped was losing the ability to walk and wearing diapers in a hospital bed and heavily sedated. I was so fortunate not to die like my little brother and father, they lost the battle and died young. Ive been sober 6 years now and am reasonably fit and well.

I watched her arrest video when she was a teacher at the school and now to see this I feel so bad for her. She doesn’t come across as a mean person just a poor lady trying to cope. My heart truly feels for her and I hope she starts to actually enjoy life..

It’s so nice to see people in the comments feeling empathy for this woman that so badly needs help. I’d imagine most of us either have had issues with addiction or have a loved one that does. This is just so tragic and I really hope she comes out of it healthy, clean and sober in the end. 🙏🏼❤️

As a recovering alcoholic, I empathize with her. Bless her heart, she needs to accept that she needs help. There's nothing to it but to do it! I speak from experience! I am praying for her and all of the addicts suffering in this world.

She keeps making it worst for herself. She got a addiction, hopefully she takes care of that.

If Kim ever sees this, and anyone struggling with addiction - you are NOT alone. Addiction takes down the best of us - some of the brightest, most intelligent, brilliant, kind hearted, compassionate people I know are addicts, and I am as well. I'm so glad to see you've gone into rehab, and my prayer for you is that you see your worth, despite your failures, and know that you are fully supported. Healing comes through our brokenness and willingness to face our pain head on, walk through the fire, and come out refined, stronger, smarter, and more anxious than ever to live out the freedom that comes with sobriety. Sending love from Seattle❤
