Christopher Tolkien being hyper focused on consistency in his bedtime stories -> The entire genre of fantasy irreversibly changing forever

In his defense, if you’re gonna come up with arbitrary details, and have the unmitigated gall to bring them up on multiple occasions, they better be accurate.

I suddenly understand why Tolkien's writing goes so deep into detail. 😂

"Damn the boy" must've been a commonplace phrase in the Tolkien household.

This kid forever changed fantasy forever because his autistic trait was having a steel trap of a memory for something that he really enjoyed that is adorable and hilarious

Funny thing is, it seems to imply that JRR Tolkien, while a bit frustrated, may have also been impressed that his Son had such good memory at his young age.

Christopher Tolkien, the first “Um, actually” guy.

Honestly I am really glad Christopher took such an interest in his father's work. There's been too many good franchises ruined because the families just didn't care

His sons criticism probably played a huge role in shaping his storytelling and world building. Tolken was also smart enough to take those criticism seriously likely realizing that his son is a sample of the kind of person that would be interesting in his scribbling, so, playing into his sons mannerisms was likely instrumental in his success as a writer. That's a warming thought.

The Hobbit, by JRR Tolkien, edited by Christopher Tolkien.

I love the implication that one of the reasons The Stories of Middle Earth are so consistent is because Chris Tolken was a continuity guy.

It's comforting to know that JRR Tolkien felt the same pain I feel as a DM/GM.

So the reason the lore is so well defined and consistent is because that’s literally the whole purpose of him writing the books. Nice.

You know, now I understand why Christopher is so protective of his father’s works and why he hates anything that changes it. I dearly love those movies, maybe more than the homes themselves, but to Christopher, it’s like when JRR would forget details and change them.

If Chistopher Tolkien wasn't such a stickler for details, we might have never gotten Lord of the Rings. JRR probably would have forgotten middle earth and wrote a totally different story, but the boy activated his dad's author mode during a bed time story!

No wonder he trusted his son to finish/continue it! Kid was a born writer.

That's got to be the best kind of kid for an author. You've got an attentive audience to review and enjoy your works off the bat!! (If I ever have kids, I hope I have one like that.)

Its kinda like how the One Peace author says he reads the fan wiki's often because fans pay more attention then the creators because they care about the smaller details.
