tbh when I saw this on TV I also didn't think they look all that bad. They look shit right now because the plants inside are in no relation - sizewise - to the pots. If they took some more money to properly fill those things (some larger tall plant in the middle and some medium filler plants around the periphery, say some bushy creeper plants) they would look much better.

I agree, they don't look that bad. Sure, the design could be improved or added to (i.e.by integrating real trash bins in that broad rim might help, or putting some circular benches around those pots), but in general I think what they need most is a more plants.

The things are actually just missing a little color. The city should just let a few graffiti artists work on the pots and let them embellish them with some beautiful flowers or nature motifs.

I know, I know, it really looks revolting and highly worrying, but he's just a redhead. 😅
But despite constantly being hissed at by cats, avoided by dogs, not recognised by movement sensors and basically being only able to go outside in the night, during thunderstorms, heavy rain, hurricanes and all of autumn, he's fine. So don't worry, it's not fatal or infectious in any way. I think.. 👀
