American Reviews German TV Show “DARK”

Hey there you guys!
In today’s video I am reviewing the German TV show DARK! I will be going over many different reasons why I love the series, and also talking about a couple critiques I have. I hope you enjoy it!

Moin Neeva, DARK ist auch eine unserer Lieblingsserien auf NETFLIX.
Für mich besonders wegen der deutschen Audiodiscription, die mir sehr weitergeholfen hat.
Und Frau und Tochter auch, weil es ihnen nicht so leicht viel die verschiedenen Personen in ihren jeweiligen Alterszeiten auseinanderzuhalten.

"Dark" plays like a mystery where many people have clues relating to the whole but they will not or cannot divulge their knowledge to each other. As a viewer you get to piece it together as best you can. Each player has motivations that drive them in an ultimate direction. I think the sex is there to show that all of the people involved are suffering deep existential anxiety and have no other way to relieve it. The name "Dark" represents the unknown blackness that everyone involved is encountering. Even when the ultimate issue is revealed in season three the actor involved is shut into the blackness with out recourse. Dark indeed. Certainly a top ten for TV.

Do you know the movie *"Predestination"* (2014) with Ethan Hawke?
It's basically, a dude comes into a bar and chats with the bartender telling him his life story. Sounds boring, but the life story is SOOOO good.
Oh, and the TV news are reporting on a terrorist, too. How does that tie in with the rest of it? Idk, you gotta watch it.

As someone who hates and has never watched horror/rly scary stuff I feel like DARK never bothered me in that way. It is a thriller for sure though you will feel the thrill (lol), but it's not too bad. Just in case someone also doesn't like horror or sth. DARK isn't scary like that at all.
I also agree that the teenage hooking up scenes could've been a lil less intense. Like it was so explicit on multiple occasions and I don't think it needed to be like that. I don't have a problem with sex scenes in any way, but yeah they were playing teenager so I was like idk it's a bit much?

Was the *** graphic in any way? Because I usually have kind of the opposite problem. If there's a romance between characters who are 15, 16, 17 (and canonically madly in love) I just don't buy that reluctant kissing and hand holding would be as far as they go, not realistic IMHO. I don't want it to be graphic when it involves minors, but no implication of anything, not even making out or cuddling? I'm not 10, I can live with the idea of hormone filled teens getting grabby.

I guess that's a bigger taboo in the US though? Would be an interesting topic for a video.

I think that the word you was looking for to describe music in this series is "disturbing" ;) As far as a slow start of season 2, I think that they had to introduce viewers to Eva's world like they did at the begining of season 1 when first few episodes were slow as well. And last thing - do not watch with english dub. Honestly, it's really bad and you will lost all those nuances that german actors bring in in the tone of their voices. For example - this scene when Noah is talking with Helge in the bunker. In original it's so intense and disturbing but with the english dubbing it's so flat and emotionless.

Granted, there is not so much time travel in it but the only other show that might come close to what you are describing (with an overall arc and so on) is Babylon 5.
