I'm a tough guy but these pictures really hit me hard.
It took a special kind of courage and patriotism to run out in the open into that hail of bullets from German machine guns.
It grieves my soul that many of our young people do not have that same sense of patriotism.

The Greatest Generation, thank you. My Uncle was there. Most have passed on. Again thanks to the Greatest Generation.

Most gutting thing is the bodies that never made it home.

This generation will never know the lives lost

I was a young US Army soldier in 2004 celebrating in support of D-Day. I didn’t get a chance to see the beach as we were too busy with our duties. I regret not stopping by the beach to give my salute. One day I will come back to visit again. These photos tells a lot of story. Thank you!

Thank you for sharing these photos. Never forget. I try to visualize what happen that day of the war. I have no family in Europe during the war. My Dad, Uncles and cousins were all in the Pacific war. I am always in awe of the Greatest Generation accomplishments.

We need to remember that this now sacred ground harbored evil at one point. God bless the men who sacrificed so much and prevailed.
