My Father was 17 when he enlisted after Pearl Harbor. God rest his soul. One of the "Greatest Generation." The generations that followed tend to forget that the "Greatest Generation" grew up and suffered through the Great Depression, and then left home for the duration of the war. Fifteen years of suffering and hell. No wonder they were as tough as nails.

I will never forget when I went to Italy, my uncle that fought there in WWII said to me, every place you see I saw too from my stomach while crawling.

My uncle was a WW2 veteran from Puerto Rico (USA) 🇵🇷🇺🇲 He fought in France and Germany in 1944-1945. He once told me after his experience nothing was impossible for him.😊❤

Bro this is so sad and nostalgic, even I dont have any family members that serve in the armed forces when WW2 broke out... this touches my heart.. I wish the sand.. the ground can talk so story and history will be told to. But hey we've got this man who keeps history alive, thanks!

These then and now pictures should run on a loop at airports, train stations, etc.
It’s not the noise of war, the horrors, the gore.
Just a simple message that you get after watching them: wars will end & the routine of life comes back.

Never ever forget the courage, sacrifice and honor…but I think those killed in action would say the same: we fought so that future generations will be better & have it better.
We honor their sacrifice when we live the best life we can.

Oh my, hoe beautiful and peaceful is Omaha Beach today. However, 83 years ago it was, quite literally hell on earth for one day and remained so for days after. God grant peace and everlasting love to those men who fought so bravely for their countries and the thousands who gave the last full measure of devotion on this beach and it's neighboring beaches. ❤.

Esa fue la mejor generación, veo esas fotos de ayer y hoy; es increíble lo que sucedió allí en esa playa. Murieron muchos hombres con coraje y sin miedo a lo que se enfrentaban, mis respetos por todos ellos. Hoy en día se ve tan diferente Omaha Beach, nunca olvidaré si algún día tuviese la oportunidad de caminar por esa playa la batalla ensangrentada que se libro.
