That was 80 years ago, and this memory is as fresh as if it just happened today. Wars may end, but they're relived by the survivors a thousand times.

The fact that vets don't get enough for their service is crazy. That story is so chilling

The death stares while recalling an absolutely traumatizing memory is what gets me every time. These people see these moments as clear as day every time they have a bad day and close their eyes...

I fulfilled a lifelong dream of visiting Omaha several years ago. I've had an interest in D-Day my entire life but only when I was actually there did I feel the full weight of what those men went through. Standing at the shoreline and looking up at the bluffs, it is incredible to me that anyone survived at all. They were brave beyond all measure.

Useful as history class may be, learning history from a veteran is one of the greatest privileges anyone can have. Thank you sir for your service.

My Grandpa Dan Callahan was the only one in his group on D-Day that survived.
He never mentally got over that horrible Day. He could never get what he saw and experience out of his mind. He was a wonderful sweet man, and a sweet loving Grandpa to me.
Thank you Sir for sharing. ❤️🇺🇲
Thank you for your service.

The war is never over for those who fought on the front lines. Veterans are not left scarred, they are left with wounds that never heal.

He still feels so much pain about watching that young boy die....emotional battle scars 💔 last much longer than physical injuries. Bless you, brave warrior!
