People talk about how this movie is "too much for kids" or "terrified them as children", but is it really THAT scary? Coraline - 2009
While exploring her new home, a girl named Coraline (Dakota Fanning) discovers a secret door, behind which lies an alternate world that closely mirrors her own but, in many ways, is better. She rejoices in her discovery, until Other Mother (Teri Hatcher) and the rest of her parallel family try to keep her there forever. Coraline must use all her resources and bravery to make it back to her own family and life.

This is true proof that stop motion truly is the most timeless form of animation, as this movie looks as good today as it did when it came out.

I wonder if Jude has finished recovering after being killed by Among Us, or if another member of the extended MWS crew will be filling in for him today.

Fun fact (if y’all didn’t know): Coraline is voiced by Dakota Fanning, or as you may have already seen her as Sally in the live action Cat in the Hat. Also the cat is voiced by the legendary Keith David

Hearing "this was done by AI" when describing a Laika movie hurts my soul in a way mere words cannot describe. Other than that, hey, fun commentary!

After watching so many videos from Microwave Society, I can proudly say, I've developed their sense of humor

11:54 This is my favorite two seconds of the review right here. That kid's vocoded-sounding scream that just suddenly gets cut off to Thomas saying, "Where has the giraffe gone?" in the most deadpan way possible.

Just cause I haven’t seen it posted, when writing the book this movie is based off of, Neil Gaimen was told by his editor it was too scary for kids and he had to rethink it. So he made a bet with her, read it to her daughter and if she’s too scared he’ll rework it, but if not they publish as is. So the editor did and the daughter had her read the entire book. Years later at an event Neil ran into the daughter and he had to thank her for her help in getting the book published. He told her the story about the bet with her mom. The girl just laughed and admitted to him “oh I was absolutely terrified by the book, but it was just so interesting I had to see how it ended.”

In the ghost hunting video when Jude asked the magic ball “is Thomas British?” I thought he was talking about Thomas the train until now lol

This film as absolutely a classic. Directed by Henry Selick, the same guy who directed The nightmare before Christmas.

I remember watching Caroline and not being scared of it at all. What’s really scary was the actual book (I didn’t read that but I remember reading a graphic novel of it.)

The reason Jude is gone is because he took the tunnel to the other world.

Cuts to Thomas
Me only paying attention to the skeletons in the background

As someone who got button eyes, I can confirm that it was so sharp I didn’t feel a thing.

Also, you know what would be the best movie to review?……*cough* The Smurfs 2011 *cough*

2:10 the mushroom circle is a gateway to a spirit realm or something in some cultures and Coraline stepping in it allows the Beldam to extend her reach to her and influence Coraline with the rats running to the little door later. Or so I've heard. So in a way, Josiah was right. It is indeed a magic well in a very particularly magical spot in the forest

12:29 The cat in this film is actually voiced by Keith David, the same person who plays Spawn and the president in Rick and Morty

Anyone that didn’t laugh at the “my house was built in the good old days before America existed”

That’s comedy😂
