Thank you for this video. I had to figure it out myself that a med I was taking was actually causing my A1c to go into diabetic range. Found studies that confirmed my intuition and confronted my doctor as well who also confirmed. Her answer was to weigh the risk. Needless to say, I went off the med, started losing weight immediately and my A1c is getting back to my normal level. Being keto, almost carnivore, for 2 years made me dig deep to figure out the culprit. Knowledge is so powerful! Thank you for sharing yours with us.

My doctor was very angry when I lost 80 pounds and quit taking the meds. He said I could have another heart attack. I said, so all the other people who take the drugs dont ever have another?

I started carnivore a month ago, I’ve lost 24 Lbs and have/ had insulin resistance for many years. I was on ozempic and Metformin but stopped a month ago as well, my A1C was 6.9 and only 1 month later is 5.5! I’m feeling great.

At the ER one time my sugar was a bit high so the doctors tried to give me a shot of insulin. I don't have diabetes, I'm at risk for diabetes and have insulin resistance. I refused the insulin because it made no sense to put more insulin in my body when I already have an excess of insulin. Best decision I ever made.

You are a hero to me, Dr. Berry. I've cut out processed sugars and changed my grocery shopping almost entirely. I educated myself on hidden sugars and am a hawk on reading labels now. I am eating fresh simple foods that I make and meats with no crazy sugar cravings and eating healthy. (I've lost 47 lbs in 8 months). I FEEL GRRRREAT. I walk but could do better. Hate the cold, rain and hills in my area. So I pick flat places to walk and on bad weather weeks, I go to Lowes and walk the aisles and perimeter for 30 to 40 minutes 2-3x a week. I grew a garden this summer. I lost my husband (a MD) to alzheimers a few years ago. He said things you say. I know he is cheering me on. (I'm 68 and enjoying my family). This was a very informative video. Many thanks.

I just got home from taking my mother for her annual physical. Per her doctor she has 'pre diabetes'. She was told to eat less meat, especially fatty meat, and increase her fruits and vegetables. I tried to discuss this with the doctor, but she absolutely would not listen. It infuriates me!!

At one time I was taking both hydrochlorothiazide and a beta blocker. Yes, I was gaining weight and always felt run down. Thankfully, today I eat a proper human diet, exercise, and am off all prescription meds. I am stronger, healthier and feel better than I have in decades.

My dad and his wife moved her mother into their home. She made pasta almost every night. Oddly she lived to be almost 100 years old but my dad had a heart attack after a few years of cardiac events that were never completely explained and a Rx of Toprol. Because they lived in a rural area it took over 20 minutes for the paramedics to arrive. He ended up developing a form of dementia caused by a lack of oxygen called vascular dementia. I tried to tell his wife to feed him a low carb high fat diet but she didn’t listen. She ended up having to put him in a home and they fed him the carbiest crap I’ve ever seen. He died a terrible death that maybe didn’t have to happen.

Again, Dr. Berry, you have educated me about how/why my insulin resistance seems to be getting worse after 2.5 years on low carb/keto diet! I have been on metoprolol for over a decade and, periodically, taken HCTZ. So, I looked them up myself. Right there, in black and white, are government studies stating exactly what you are teaching!! I wasn’t taking one med but 2, metoprolol and niacin. I took myself off both of these meds (taking an ACE inhibitor and Ca channel blocker) and notified my physician. Why do i feel that I’m trying to do everything I can to be healthy but my doctors are working against me?!

This is exactly why I started listening to you Dr. Berry!
I was on Metformin 1500mg twice a day and still terrible BS so Dr wanted me to start insulin but I refused so then she prescribed Glipizide. But after I read the fine print on that I got scared. Thinking there MUST BE A BETTER WAY, I looked you up here on YouTube.
Started keto in January of 2019, lost 65 pounds, off all the meds (including Ozempic pen). Thank you 😊 😀 👍 🙏

I tapered off of metoprolol. Didn’t tell doctor. Just got the bloodwork done. Surprise! No more pre-diabetes! The doc. redid the bloodwork because cholesterol was down a bit, too, result of slight dietary change, swapped vanilla ice cream for frozen whipped vanilla Greek yogurt. Doc thought the labs were off. I tapered off the statin as well, lost 15 lbs. by substituting home-popped popcorn for chips. She STILL wanted me on both meds. Tired of arguing about it, I filled the prescriptions but didn’t take them. Next exam my arthritis (psoriatic) was substantially better, mobility better, no longer using rollator at all, a sturdy walking stick instead, more active, mental health improved, numbers down even more. So then I told her.
Can you believe I got chastised and was warned to get back on the meds.
It proved to me that US medicine is just that, about “medicine and money, ” not about good health. I got myself a new doctor more open to minimalist and natural approach to health.

In January I started on Keto after visiting both my PCP and my Optometrist, my A1C was 8.3 and I had developed Diabetic Retinopathy in one eye. This was a HUGE wake-up call for me so I started Keto. Within a few weeks I changed to an *almost* Carnivore diet, only eating avocado & olives with no other veggies. Yesterday I went to my PCP for a 3 month check up & my A1C is 6.7 in just 12 weeks! I'm ecstatic and my doctor is very pleased. He asked what I was doing so I told him KETO (cause I didn't think he'd agree with a Carnivore diet). He said to continue what I'm doing for as long as I feel I need to. I'm a life-long Keto/Carnivore/Ketoivore now!
Also, a few months ago, he had prescribed 2 Glipizide daily but I didn't take but 1 Glipizide daily. I told him I 'forgot' (which was true) to take the 2nd Glipizide. He asked how many days I forgot to take it - I told him "all of them". He said I was doing so well I could only take 1 a day. Now I'm thinking I'm only going to take one every other day... (self-prescribing!)
Thank you Dr. Berry for your videos and helping me to reverse my T2D and saving my eyesight!!!

Metformin nearly killed me and so did Glimepiride.

They almost lost me my gallbladder.

Carnivore reversed the sugar problems for me thanks to videos like these 🎉

Your videos have opened my eyes after ending up in the hospital over blood sugar problems. I ended up with ketoacidosis and a blood sugar level of 800+. I also have renal failure and pancreatitis. Then I was getting sick and aspirated ending up with pneumonia and respiratory failure. I spent 12 days in the ICU bed ridden, 8 of which I was heavily sedated. When I got out of the ICU I could stand or walk and need assistance with most things. After 25 day, I was released from a rehab hospital maybe at 60%, but I was kind depressed about my diabetes and feeling a bit hopeless as I was still have sugar levels in the 200s and was having my insulin raised. I found your video and did research and have hope that I can use diet to change things. I been eating lower amounts of carbs for a week and have had to bring my insulin amount down to keep my blood sugar from dropping to low. Thank you for opening my eyes.

I knew I was right, when they tried to make me take insulin when I was 1st diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. I actually learned about insulin resistance from your videos. So I lost 45 lbs. Quit eating lousy food and at the wrong time and too much food. Took metformin and now gave reduced my 2 pills a day to 1 per day. I call it eating scared. My father died from un disciplined eating and diabetes. Not me. Ptl.
