The names may look almost identical, but OLED and QLED are two entirely different beasts. In our QLED vs. OLED battle, we dissect the differences between these dueling TV technologies and help determine which might be best for you.

Samsung's QLED line of TVs is a series coined by the company that means "quantum light emitting diode". The branding is an attempt to distinguish this TV as Samsung's most premium television and has the capacity to produce an image that's brighter than an OLED TV.

With LG's OLED TV, the image is produced by starting with perfect black. With true blacks being produced, it's hard to beat the OLED in terms of picture quality. The color is spot on straight out of the box, and its motion is smoother than the QLED.

I have seen both QLED and OLED TVs and my choice is OLED. The QLED may be able to present a brighter picture, but the OLED picture is plenty bright enough and has a natural brightness and intensity to it whereas the QLED has a slightly hard edge to the picture. The best way to explain this difference is to take a top-notch 4k video cam and shoot a static scene of pieces of scrap iron, wood bark, and a bunch of features in the same scene. The QLED will look fantastic on the iron, and OK on the wood but the feathers won't look soft and fluffy and will have an unnatural contrasty look to them. The OLED will render all elements with the iron looking bold and hard, the bark looking like real wood and softer than the iron, and the feathers looking soft and very fluffy. My verdict is for the OLED TV. It has that top-of-line plasma look but with even better picture Q. Another winner for me is that OLED sports better black levels and has superior off-axis viewing compared to most TVs including QLED.

I work at a best buy. We sell tons of tvs a day. Ive sold 1 Qled vs 100+ oleds. Mostly sony oleds

I have the 2016 samsung 8000 series 4k and I'm beyond happy with it. Out of the box there wasn't much happening but once I went deep inside and calibrated the colors and image myself, it looks every bit as good as a OLED, QLED or anything else you can think of at well below half the price.

There is a reason Prevost and Newell both $ 2 million RV coach’s only use
LG OLED TVs in there coach’s.
They have the BEST quality picture period. QLED like Samsung are good, but it really isn’t close.
OLED is far superior in many ways, but they are EXPENSIVE!

Got 2 QLEDs a 2018 Q60 and a 2019 Q70. My buddy has an OLED. All of them are great. Blacks slightly deeper on the OLED, picture brighter on the QLED.
