PERFORMANCE POWER - Samsung Odyssey OLED G8 Review

I got my hands on the 34” Samsung Odyssey OLED G8 monitor and I have to say, this might well be the one I stick with. As you may know, I’ve used the 49” Odyssey G9 Neo for ages now and haven’t yet found a better screen, but the G8 really is a great screen. It’s really hard to fault - what do you think?

You’re using the Ergotron hx? I’m using one with my LG C1 but want to switch to this and was afraid it would be too light for the Ergotron and I’d have to buy another one. Did you have to do anything to get it to work?

I have just upgrade from Big sure to Ventura 13, and my Samsung Odyssey G9 Ultrawide monitor no longer supports the resolution of 5120x1440. What can i do? I have Mac pro 2019 and very sad about that… have you a solution for me? I have only 60htz with hdmi working…

When you took off the film, does the monitor have protection, is it very marky?

9:30 Why would it be a Samsung issue? Sometimes Apple doesn't "just work". If your Mac studio has the ProMotion feature, disable it as it will limit your screen to 120hz.

I bought the G9 (none Neo) off the back of your productivity recommendations and not sure I could swap to anything less. I have SQL in the middle with teams and outlook in about A4 size either side. The fact that basically gives me 27 inches in the middle area for SQL makes things so much easier. That 49 inch OLED version might be tempting if they manage dimming well.

Do I have to use a pacific type of usb c wire to use the g8 as main display for MacBook? It shows a very poor laggy resultion for me when I connect using usb c port

I got the g85sb and the coresync function seems broken. Only show pale white colors. Any fix for that?

I can’t find an srgb color space setting. I don’t like the oversaturated look for dci. Also how to get HDR true black 400. When I check windows it says no VESA hdr certification

By the way, you can use on MACOS in 120FPS, 4K, raytracing and HDR with Geforce Now.

Does this have HDMI 2.1 connectivity through the mini HDMI port? Will it work with PS5 VRR?

Have you tested sleep turn on - off? letting your pc/mac go to sleep and wake it?

You can control the screen settings by pressing on play button on the remote for 5 seconds, controls pop out.. I hope that helps.

What’s your opinion on having this monitor for productivity and reading?.. And another question, did any recent firmware updates sort out the issue with volume?
