Lake Ontario has an impact crater 1/2 mile wide. I think it was dated 12, 000 years.

Well your last scenario is the most plausible to me. Not being far from Isle Royale and at a relatively shallow depth should make it a good candidate for a drop camera, ROV or sonar search. The boulders and stones moved and then deposited by a thawing glacier or ice sheet should be easily observable and separate from the typical clay or sediment bottom.
