OKAY I figured it out for everyone wondering. YOU HAVE TO LET HIM FINISH THE DIALOGUE or he won’t go on to the next chapter. Talk to him multiple times when you see him till he says something along the lines of a goodbye. He wasn’t showing up for me in chapter 2 even though I talked to him in chapter 1 because I didn’t let him finish all the dialogues I only talked to him once. You shouldn’t be able to interact with him anymore and that’s when you know you finished all the dialogues.

This is a really nice story, like he keeps trying to fight, then gets beaten and trapped at the end, but then you get him as a transformation; in a way having him accompany you in every subsequent battle/ng+.

Fun fact: in the novel, the Celestial court once invited Wukong to Heaven to take the role of Bi ma wen - an official role whose duty is to manage the heavenly horse stable.
Because of that, Wukong can command all horses, mortal, demonic or celestial.

Wow. This game has so many secrets. I guess I progressed too far, I found that whip but couldn’t pull it out. Now I know it’s because I missed him at the 3rd location.

I saw him in chap 1 and 2, then skip 3, 4 and came back to check on 3 and he's not there. BUT then I back tracked to chap 2, talked to him again, and he respawned in chap 3, so this is the game mechanics everyone, you need to follow steps by steps and sometimes have to do it all over again.

There is another point of no return before killing the keeper. Pulling the whip from the cart's mouth in ch5 will de-spawn the Horse Guai from any previous chapter. Ensure you find him in all chapters before the Valley Entrance of Ch5.

I talked to him in every chapter as u should i located whip wich i couldnt pull out so i progressed in chapter and finished it, now when i came back to try pull the whip whip is not there… did i just fking miss it?

Some say the Horse Guai with lighting whiplash is a funny homage to a famous self proclaimed Tai Chi master Master Ma( Ma means horse literally in Chinese). He claimed his Taichi lightning whiplash hand are too fast normal can’t see but got one punched in the ring.

its wierd for me i talked to him in chapter 1 and 2 missed him in 3 and 4 and in chapter 5 i pulled the string nothing happenned and now its gone and i donth have the achievement

The quest is broken for me since I finished the other chapters.
try to talk to him before finishing the quests otherwise he won't respawn.
I'm supposed to be in chapter 3 step. but since I finished he is not there so be careful.

If you get the fire cape in chapter 1. You can walk on lava in chapter 5. Just ring 3 bells
