For all of those who this didn't work for, I literally toggled the video track's visibility (the little eye symbol) and untoggled it and it magically worked. also if you're using transitions and an adjustment layer is above the transition and has a powerful effect sometimes it may say you require gpu so change transition timings or simply move the adjustment layer so it begins after the transition ends,

For some reason, VR_Rotate Sphere and some noise effects didn't like each other when combined, so my fix was to render out the VR_RotateSphere and then apply the noise to the newly rendered MOV file. Was annoying but no other fixes worked

The red banner popped up so I switched the order of the 2 effects (top to bottom) in the effect window. The effects were Lumetri Color and lighting effects. When lighting effects was on top of lumetri it red bannered Simply switch the order. It SHOULD work 😊

If you are using Glitch effect, you have to scale up the video clip. Glitch effect needs more space than preview. For instance, if your clip scale is %100 and get an error like gpu acceralation needed while using glitch effect, make your clip scale is %115. It can help

I switched the adjustment layer for the noise under the AL for the glitch effect I was using and it worked, thx!

Fast, easy to understand, really good video.

the dumbest thing is that you can't even just render it and say "screw it. I'll let it take longer." The damn thing is baked INTO the video >_>

it goes away when I switch it to CUDA but it won't hardware export, it always fails unless the video is really short. So I need to switch it back to software usually and pops up again. I have a GTX 1660 Super and an intel i5 processor, 64gb ram.

I'm using a maxed-out M1 Mac Studio Ultra, and the Playback option is greyed out and Mercury by default. Can't believe I'm still getting this message with my spec. Oh well :(

I have a 4090 and am getting this message using noise on an adjustment layer (Of which this solution did not fix). Premiere is such a mess.

I had the same problem today. I tried all the "fixing" methods in this and other videos and articles on the net... Nothing helped.

And you know what turned out?

I used too large bitmap in the project! One PNG file was 9387x16688px (35MB). When I reduced it to 33% (3129x5563; 7MB) all "This Effect Requires GPU Acceleration" problems disappeared in a second...
