Biggest sign I’ve ever gotten. My little Muffin was PEEING BLOOD it was horrifying but we couldn’t find a small animal vet that was open because that was at the peak of Covid. I was so scared for her, but thankfully she is fine now

Hi my name is david. I hope you read this because it's gonna be a long comment so here goes. I'm a disabled marine vet. During my second tour I suffered a traumatic brain injury and when I got home was diagnosed with PTSD. I was very depressed and suicidal . about a year ago I saw one of your videos and being honest I wasn't watching it because it was a cute bunny video. I seen your picture and said to myself I've got to watch this video cause this woman is gorgeous but once I watched it I seen how loving your bunny was. My doctor told me I should get an emotional support animal. And once I started watching your videos I wanted to get a bunny. Now I have 2 bunnies a boy named trix and a girl named Elvira. I'm doing so much better now and my bunnies make me so happy. So thank you so very much. You and lennon helped me through so much and you helped me get my life back. So thank you so very much. back in 2019 i found your videos and wanted a rabbit, i watched/researched and begged my parents for a rabbit. one day my parents gave me a bunny i was so excited i took care of him and named him blu. he passed today not even making it to 3 so i came back and i just wanted to say thank you for educating me and trying to give bunny parents advice on rabbits. i was at my aunts and unfortunately my parents don’t know as much about rabbits as i do so when they noticed he wasn’t eating they didn’t think anything of it, he’s gone now. i wish i could go back, so please love your rabbits as much as possible before they die.

My bunny has gi stasis, and I only knew the signs because I binged this Channel before I took her home. I watched this video and realized she is not doing these things, I am just an overly concerned rabbit mom 😅 I’m so glad Lorelei makes these educational videos. Because of her, I was able to get my rabbit to the vet within the first couple hours of her stasis beginning. She came back home from the vet two days later with IV fluids and has fully recovered. ❤️

Loved this video! I had a GI statis scare with my bun a few months ago. I knew immediately when she didn’t greet me at the door (which she always does) something was wrong. I brought her to the vet right away and shes okay now☺️

Lorelei, YES! I LOVE that disclaimer!! I want EVERYONE to watch that like... 5-10+ times before they start coming into the comments or DMS looking for "why my pet is doing..." answers. You, us, we, are NOT specialists a lot of the time, and people need to realize that we cannot diagnose nor save your bunny or animal.

One thing I have picked up and learned is that everyday to do a mini physical exam with my bunny while I am petting them. Rub your hands around their jaw or base of the ears for any lumps or discomfort. Look at the front teeth while massaging the cheeks. Look in the ears while petting. Check nails. Look around eyes and nose for any leakage or buildup. Listen to the tummy for sounds. Check for awareness/affection and if anything is off. I also do a twice a day stool check (AM/PM). This doesn't take much time at all to be honest! MAYBE 3-5 minutes tops! So it's a habit I recommend everyone to get into. I was able to spot my bunny's gassy GI issues due to these checks and noticing a change in activity level, stools, and tummy sounds.

Mine was feeling sick occasionally. Hunched over for extended periods. Hiding in odd places. Not wanting treats.
I discovered a correlation with the amount of spinach I was feeding him. Sometimes the spring mix I buy is overloaded with spinach, like its the half-and-half mix but its labeled Spring Mix. As soon as I limited the amount of spinach in his bowl, he has not acted sick at all, covering the last 4 months.

I remember I had a GI stasis scare few months ago where my bunny doesn't want his treats, his toys, and he keeps crouching in the corner with his ears pinned back. Called my vet and she said it could be stucked pellet in his mouth that's making him not eating and even after bringing him to the vet, they said nothing was wrong with him(which is a huge relief of course). Turns out I realized my bun was just being sulky at me for not taking care of him for the past few days because I wasn't around (bun is taken care by my parents that time). This made me realized how important a bond is :")

Excellent advice! Knowing your bunny's typical behaviour enables you to detect when something is wrong and react quickly.

Our rabbit had gi stasis, from watching your video's we realised something was wrong. He stopped eating completely, not even hay, and had stopped pooping. Luckily we have a very good vet, they said a rabbit stomach constantly makes noise, as it's constantly churning, but his was silent. So we spent 5-7 days of 2 antibiotics, and syringe feeding him every 4 hours for 5 days. Thank god he's now better and full of life. Thank you for your video's

The closest 24hr rabbit savvy vet to me is 4hrs away.. and last time I needed them they had a 6hr wait time. I had to deal with the stasis by myself at home with gas drops, belly massage, critical care, and syringe feeding water every hour all night. Next morning she was feeling better thank god. I caught the stasis really really quick luckily. But I was so nervous when it happened. Tried the treat test and knew something was up.

I’ve seen a few posts in rabbit groups that their buns chewed on pee pads (even if the litter originally covered it) and required emergency surgery. If you line your litter box, I would personally recommend newspaper for safety.
