NOTE: Rabbits' teeth NEVER stop growing, so chewing is an important part of bunny enrichment. Providing your rabbit with chew toys is essential to keeping a happy and healthy bunny. This video is directed towards keeping your bunny from chewing up your personal items INSTEAD of their toys. I have my favorite bunny toys linked in my amazon shop (linked below). Enjoy!

Hi, professional trainer here. Saying “no” is fine when immediate action needs to be taken, but it’s important to follow it with redirection. Positive reinforcement is the most effective way to train any animal.

Today I told my bunny “No, Cece” and she turned towards me, did a little thump so I go “that’s what I’m saying!” And she just binkied away. I don’t know what that says about me or her on how effective disciplining her is but it was for sure the Funniest thing I saw all day and I couldn’t be mad at her after that😂😂

I did train my bun like a dog. I put a treat in front of his face and wait until he turned his head away. Rewarded and did that over and over. Then I linked a command to it and now he knows whenever he does something he shouldn’t I say that word sternly and he usually will turn away and leave it. So I usually don’t have to punish him ☺️

I NEEDED this video! My bunny can only free roam under supervision because of this issue. If I can get her to stop chewing my carpet and furniture then I can actually free roam her always! Tysm

Good points. I find that redirecting my bun works really well. When my bun starts to get out of line I yell "No! bad Peanut" and he responds to the sound of my voice and then I give him one of his chew toys or a handful of hay and it seems to make the connection for him. He rarely has accidents or chews things that he shouldn't. He still has naughty moments, but the more he knows what he can and cannot chew, he's learning for sure.

Thank you for this! So many rabbit content creators just shame people for not completely bunny proofing everything, or not just doing positive reinforcement for everything.

This is extremely helpful. Snuggles sometimes poops on the rug & nibbles my jeans, so I will try the thumping while saying no. Thank you for showing us that we can discipline with love & gentleness...

I just got a new rabbit two days ago (a Mini Plush Lop buck, under a year old). I've had a rabbit before, also a buck, when I was MUCH younger, but my mother is the one who really took care of him due to me being so young. I'm trying to relearn the ways of pet rabbits and how to balance our lives (because let's face it, a new bunny can be quite the struggle). I did research beforehand, but little of it prepared me for the little energy ball who is now in my care. Your videos have been SO helpful in teaching me how to guide him to not cause (too much) trouble and helping also teach me, not just him. I know it's way too early to say, "oh yes, this worked!" but it's easy, logical, and honestly, I've heard so many people use your tips and agree that they helped. So thank you for your channel and your tips and guides, it's making my bunny-raising journey a lot smoother!

You can also put a treat in front of their face, say , and take away the treat. They will start to understand so when they do, give them treats.

I love the metal in the background when Cinnabun was going HAM on your baskets/furniture lol!! My bun Scooby was caught chewing on the strap of my designer handbag I got for Christmas… I did the stomp “NO” without even knowing it would be effective (I have been doing this along with picking him up). He defiantly clapped his feet and hopped away but when I sat back in our spot on the sofa he came over to me looking to play so I know I didn’t scare him.

This is extremely helpful because when I heard first say you pick cinabbun to discipline her, I tried it and quickly realized just how terrified mine is of being off the ground. He will actively jump out of my arms even before he's in my hands and freaks out If I do manage to pick him up. He trusts me a lot. He flops, sploots and even exposes his belly to me in my presence, he's just terrified of being in the air.

Lol, I was reading on the floor earlier and Frankie started eating my book. I gently pushed him away a couple times and he gave up. I never really thought about "training" my bun... Frank is really well behaved but I'll keep this in mind! Thank you!

Thank you so much for this vid! It helps a lot! I just got my first bunny and I’m kinda overwhelmed but I’m trying to take it day by day.

I started to do this shushing like sound that my hispanic mom did to us when we were kids, the sound basically means 'whatever you're doing, you should probably stop right now'. I started doin it to my buns and they actually listen! Ur tips have been super helpful, especially saying no, all while doing the shushing sound! :D
