Christopher Andrew Celiz
SFC / U.S. Army
Medal of Honor
Born: January 12, 1986

Sergeant First Class (SFC) Christopher Celiz, a member of the 1st Battalion of 75th Ranger Regiment, died July 12, 2018 of wounds suffered as a result of enemy small-arms fire in eastern Afghanistan’s Paktiya province.

When ambushed by a large enemy force in Afghanistan,
Christopher and his team were pinned down. He exposed himself to heavy enemy gunfire in order to retrieve a heavy weapon system nearby and laid suppressive fire that allowed the team to counter and move the wounded. He exposed himself multiple times without regard for his own safety in order to get his wounded team medevaced.

Christopher deployed from 2008 to 2009 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and from 2011 to 2012 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. He was on his fifth deployment with the 1st Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, when he was killed. He was 32.

That's the hardest thing, I can't imagine making that call with a wife and kid. I hope his teammates help his family out so they can grieve together

For all the horrors and bad this world witnesses day to day, it’s remarkable that there are hearts as full and souls as calm as this gentleman. What an absolute hero. We mourn your loss, celebrate your selflessness, and remember your spirit today soldier. For all of time, you’ll serve as a glowing example of what people are truly capable of. Praying for your family, crying for the passing of a great American soldier.

He was apart of the 530th Engineer Clearence Company, 92nd Engineer BN, 3rd Division in Fort Stewart Georgia. His picture posted at least once in all of the buildings he use to work in.

I, myself work in 530th. This Sapper's spirit will forever live on in our hearts.

Rest peacefully brother.

My son is a 100% disabled veteran permanent injury . He will never be the same as he was before . We need to order these men and women for the ultimate sacrifice, their lives, their future, their hopes and dreams… we glorify the wrong people in this world. We need to glorify the ones that gave their life so that we can enjoy our life and be free. Freedom comes had a great price!!
