It brings me solace to know that all good labs end up looking like this and not just mine! A messy lab is truly where the love is.

Dave, What about making a quick time lapse video for clearing the old lap and packing the equipment, also could you show us the right packaging for moving equipments ?
You got a gold mine dumpster :D :D :D

So glad you'll still have access to that dumpster room!

nah Dave, quit lying to yourself. You're just gonna accumulate more junk when you get more room.

Don't clean it up, take it apart!

Cleaning and sorting up that mess will most probably just result in more tins full of plastic couch feet :)

I'm glad I'm not the only one with no bench space

I spend a lot of time looking for things too, I usually try to tidy up until I find the thing I want, that way I feel like the time spent looking is a bit less wasteful.

Reminds me of my lab/office!

This makes me feel so much better about my mess(es)! From painting cars to retail buyer jobs I'm usually not the most organized person, but after chronic injuries, I create disaster areas. I'm often forced to stop working on a project for days or even weeks at a time without warning. That tends to make big messes. Plus when I've only got a few minutes of time to sit or stand per day, on a good day, organizing and cleaning is a big endeavor. My mess is usually way worse than this, but after seeing this from the YT resident EE Pro, Dave. -Mess- * *Professional*
('Why yes, I have a very "professional" work bench!')

Thanks for the upload

Depending on how much more floor space you have between your workbench and mailbag bench, you could go with a row or two of shelves. Stand them back-to-back so that there is loads of accessible storage space. Accessibility is top priority when it comes to keeping things organized. That, and having a clue where things should go.

After my lab moved from one room in the house to a larger room, 18 years ago(!), I still vividly remember the location of equipment in the old room when I search for something.

This is from some years ago, but still entertaining to watch. What an assembly of instruments!
