I did keto in my 30's and easily peeled off 30 pounds in a month or so, but trying it again in my 50's was a whole different story I knew exactly how to do the diet and wasn't over 20 g of carbs but I was lucky to show trace amounts of ketones. I stayed on the keto diet for 4 years and lost almost nothing, maybe 15 pounds. It wasn't until I fasted for 5 days and really stripped my liver of excess glucose that my ketone levels started rising to similar levels I had in my 30's. Your advice could fool a lot of people into thinking they are making progress, when in fact their liver is going to keep them from losing weight. If I would have started with a 3 day fast 4 years ago, I would be down to my ideal weight.

Great video. My ketones were quite high when starting. Around 2.5mmol. Now 14 days in i think i might be sub 1.0mmol but really havent changed my meals much since i started.

Im 95% sure im on less than 30g of carbs per day too.

Thanks. I needed that. Mine are 0.6 - 24hrs into a 72 hr fast. At 71 with spinal stenosis - I could use a little autophagy and some stem cells.

If caloric deficit could elevate cortisol? It's not like I'm fasting but don't have enough calories for now and have sleep trouble

"think of it this way why do people who eat a high carb and low calorie diets still loose weight" up until recently i would say "they don't" because i had 3 doctors over my life say "they don't" the doctor i had when i was a teen said i needed to cut "everything" out, and the doc i have now says i need to avoid carbs all together and focus on meat and fat... even though i heard if you increase protein that in the end turns to glucose. be helpful if the doctors knew what they are doing right?

I don't test my ketones. I'm trying to lower my fasting blood sugar. I've lost 14 pounds in 6 weeks, but I can't seem to get my fasting below 197. Uggghhh. It was 197 even after a 38 hour fast.

So talk about bad starvation mode, how can you know when you are there? Since I mentioned below problems with blood sugar dropping with IF after 16-18 hours.

I’m averaging 10.6 lbs per month! But my Ketone levels are only .5-.7? So far I’ve lost 32 lbs since April 1, 2022

Hey Thomas! I've just switched from Keto to Vegan Keto. Been in ketosis for past 4 years. Usually my blood ketone levels were around 1.5. But since doing it vegan they've been between 4.5 and 6.8
Do you or anyone else have any idea WHY that is? TiA (I'm also losing weight without intending to. And eating more calories than while I did non vegan keto)

Ahh maybe someone can give me feedback. I’m 5 months in. And I find myself at .3, .4, and .5 a lot.

Should I be concerned about .4?.3? I test five times a week. I never eat more than 30g of carbs. I’m 6’8 and weigh 325
