I had a situation like this, getting along with a friend, I only see her as a friend but we start hanging out a lot alone together. She messages me that she’s waking up early to study, I get the impression she wants to study together so I ask her if she wants me to come with and I say yes, we stay at the college for 8 hours straight for multiple days, just the two of us, in a private room writing problems on the board. Now mind you I’m not an idiot, I didn’t think this really meant anything, I know some people are just really friendly or are able to have close friendships with those of the opposite sex so I think nothing of this until her leg brushes against mine, I don’t move my leg and she doesn’t move hers, I think to myself that maybe she’s just not noticing, when we pass work to one another she regularly touches my hand, arm, etc even when it would be so easy just to not do it, then when we are working side by side she just attaches to me, arm to arm, leg to leg, basically leaning against me while she’s doing her work, we are sitting at a fairly large table she could easily move away if she wanted to, I left her plenty of space but she didn’t, even when we aren’t sitting and we are hanging out in a group she’s always next to me. At this point I couldn’t resist the impression that she’s interested, I wasn’t even into her that way until she started doing all of this, but talking to her after school, hanging out just the two of us when she told me she was a busy person who didn’t have a lot of free time made me think if she doesn’t have a lot of free time why spend hours with me, just talking? So after an exam when we are walking together I ask her plain and simple, why she was doing what she was doing, she tells me she didn’t even notice the physical interaction, she wasn’t treating me differently from any of her friends and she had a boyfriend (showed me pictures of the two) despite just moving to my state fairly recently.

I just thought to myself, she must have such an amazing life, the fact that she can be that close to someone, and have it mean nothing to her, have it be something she just experiences on a regular basis. The only people who ever got that close to me were my parents when I was little and my ex girlfriend and some of my closest cousins. No one else had ever been that close with me that way. To me those were some of the best moments I had experienced in a while, to her it was just another week.

The only explanation is that she didn’t want him to ask to kiss her because it ruined the mood. I mean if he’s telling the truth all the signs are there; blushing, wanting to touch him, hanging out with him, and sitting on his lap. And she still wants to hang out the next day.
