I installed OCLP 6.1 on my 2012 Macpro a few days ago. I had a few issues but managed it after a couple of tries. I remember years ago hacking wifi firmware to get my wireless card to work on Linux. Compared to that, it was easy. It's so cool to be running Monterrey on old hardware! Thanks so much for these videos.

Great explanation, I didn't really know how it worked, I just knew it worked. very insightful!

Perhaps Apple should introduce paid support for old Macs, I wouldn't mind paying a small fee for official support after a number of years, I'm glad we have OpenCore to fallback on.

This is good stuff. Thank you for your time. Macgeek is a niche that is difficult to cater to and the macgeek audience on this platform is a difficult crowd. Thanks for taking the time. I am very appreciative of it.

Good video! I OpedCore'd my 2012 MacPro for years, until MacOS Big Sur ... had to move on to some newer hardware then. Understanding OC is also super-important for Hackintosh builders

I've been far behind on what's been going on. Thanks for the update. And yes, the rapid deprecation of features is depreciating (not appreciated) :>

I just upgraded to the latest Monterey and I had to update the bootloader this time too . Really works great on my MacPro 5.1. Not yet ready for the latest OS though.

Thank you so much for this video! Now I have a much better understanding of this whole, rather confusing, topic. I always thought that Open Core was some dubious borderline illegal software, but am now much more at ease with it.

Thank you for the great overview!

Just found out about Open Core Legacy patcher today from a Mr. Macintosh video.

For sure I will update my trusty first ever MacBook Pro (Late 2013).

👍

OCLP has helped make my VERY upgraded Mac Pro 3, 1 and my 2013 Retina Macbook Pro run better with unsupported OS versions than with the latest supported versions

Thank you, for posterity, for doing this.

Great Explanation!
I really haven't figured this out successfully, I kinda caved into buying a real Mac with the M1
Pretty sweet setup, still trying to figure out how to build a Hackintosh into my AMD TrueNAS Scale system im making to mess with.
Back in the early 2k's there was a ALOSHI DVD Image I belie it was called, I was able to get that version of OSX Leopard I believe it was, working on a PIII Dell tower & got it running ProTools.
but that was 20 years ago lol

So many people talk about installing OpenCore Patcher to “use” the latest macOS, but none of them demonstrates how to recover your mac from a backup, such as from a Time Machine backup. Do you think the Internet Recovery / Restore from Time Machine backup works the same way as a currently supporting Mac?

Warning: OCLP has caused my 2014 iMac updating to Sonoma to slow to virtually unusable or repeatedly freeze or crash. Currently trying a complete factory reset as the only way to fix. Tried everything else.
