I just eat before and after the workout in my 8 hour window. I think this advice works for one meal a day type situation.

I did it every single day for 2 years
Fasting for 16-19h.
Lifting heavy on empty stomach
Loading up on food for the remaining time.

Not only it works great, but you feel healthy and sharp and good.
Only water and black coffee (unsweetened) during fast

Your advice is amazing and the way you put it across makes it even more interesting. So, I’m nearly 60 and just got back into lifting again, gained 14 pounds and lost 2 inches around the stomach. I do not suffer any of the things that are mostly akin to my age and feel so lucky to be like this at my age. Long may it continue.

For those who didn't get it
He says, train before your eating window opens up, in intermittent fasting, for me my eating window is 10AM - 6PM, so I should train before 10AM go to gym or do whatever workout routine I have, then start your first meal of the day, so that you will feed your muscles.

You can also put your workout in the middle of the eating window. I used to do IF and weight lift, I would do eating window 4pm to 10pm. Would work until about 6pm and work out 630-8pm. I liked getting some food in before the gym and after, personally. It gave me enough time for a post workout shake and then a large late meal. It helped I went to bed around midnight 1am so my sleep wasn’t impacted by a large meal around 930.

I did IF from 2009 to 2020. My first meal would be around 2pm and I would train right b4. Worked great. I no longer need to fast my body just stays leaner now a days which is cool. Probably just from all the years of getting lean and building muscle.

I train fasted at 10:00, I have my first meal with the highest amount of calories roughly at 12:30, then my second meal at 15:30, and my last meal at 18:30, so I fast 18 hours. This pattern has been working well for me. A wood point out that I am approaching my mid-50s, and I am not that concerned about putting on much more muscle. I used to be a competitive bodybuilder, but those days are behind me. When I used to compete, I generally used to eat 6 meals a day.

I like to train in the morning, before my training session i take some electrolytes and caffeine, and then after i train ill have a big post workout meal, then a coffe in between then another big meal at around 4 pm, and then a cup of hot milk at 6 pm and im done, i fast for about 12-14 hrs

My window is 2 pm to 8 pm but I’m usually done by 7ish. I would normally eat a protein bar or drink a shake, wait for 1/2 hr and hit the gym.
I’m gonna take Mike’s advice and TRY to workout before my window opens.

I do this type of training, I call it hunter gatherer training because ultimately you work hard and your reward is all the food and drink when you're done. No better way to stay motivated than to start doing something when you're hungry. You'll do it twice as well as someone on a full stomach because food and survival is a great motivator.

I did like a full upper body workout the other day, got protein chips and a protein shake, a bowl of home-made chili and then a couple hours later downed 9 chicken wings and drums at a sports bar. I have never recovered faster in my life. I was good and sore one day and then next day I was feeling much better.
