How bad is NO TRACTION / GRIP in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe?

How important is the traction stat? What if you have the MINIMUM traction stat and constantly slip?

I remember my second experience with Shortcat. I saw him at this gaming convention thing, and walked up to him, to thank him for playing Mario Kart with my son. I asked him if he wanted to play Mario Kart again at the Switch kiosk they had, and he said "sure". He then picked up the entire kiosk, and walked out of the building with it. After he won the race, he planted bombs inside of the kiosk and it blew up! What a nice guy, 11/10 experience. Would meet again.
