I hit my from my 6 iron to my 9 iron about 110-120 yards every time

My 2cents. When I was starting to play I had this issue, all my clubs sent the ball about 140 meters. I was swinging with just my hands. When I found my body I added a lot of distance and separation between clubs. Since I only swung my hands I effectively took away club length. Pro lessons I do recommend :-)

He did explain what some of the issues might be, and that it's hard to diagnose the problem without seeing the quality of his swing and the numbers he produces. Besides, going to a pro to get specific feedback is in most cases the best advice he could give.

One trick I've used for some people is take a tee, put it 3 inches in front of your ball on your target line, and hit the ball and the tee when you swing. If you hit both tees and still slice the ball, your face angle is open - and you need to turn it over better.

I disagree: He adressed the fact that it's the golfer, not the clubs. He said your club head speed is the major factor...if you have a low club head speed, it may only get you halfway through your irons before you stop noticing a difference. He advised the go see a golf pro that can tell you your numbers and fit you. He gave the best advice he could give without ever seeing the person even swing a club.

I have a 7 iron that doesn't fit my normal athletic "easy" swing. It's the worst club in my bag that's consistently off the mark.

Solution: matched the shaft of the 6 iron.

There is a lot missing surrounding the question. That’s why he said to go see someone. For instance I think something as simple as ball position could account for it. If you play your 6 iron dead center and your 7 2” back they effectively have the same loft. I’m making up numbers hear to illustrate a point. So things like that are unknown so there is no answer without more info. On the surface you could assume same ball position, same swing speed, same grip/position of hands on club etc but it’s all a guess.

im a golfer beginner. its happening to me. i think i just couldn't hit the right spot. and also tended to swing faster and stronger with my longer clubs (which i shouldnt do)

Wasn't this video already posted a little earlier this month? It seems very familiar.

Thank you, I have access to a monitor and have found that my four five six and Seven iron consistently carry similar distances. It is like a lie detector, the totals will be different but the carrys are not what I thought. I'm going to ring my pro.

I had this problem for a while. It was more of a plateau really, not so much 9 and 4 iron going the same distance but more like couldn't make any club 7 iron and above go past about 140 yards. Managed to get my distances a lot better now, but seems 3, 4, 5, 6 irons still don't go the distances they should - but it may be that I just don't play them enough.

Reasons, some are related:
Not releasing the club head, creating blocked shots.
Flipping hands
Outside to in
Too steep
Early extension of hips, early release..

Too many reasons for a fix. Definitely agree with getting on a monitor and working with a pro. Save yourself 50 buckets of balls drilling the wrong swing into your muscles and spend that money on a coach.

I have this same problem and have my entire 20 years of playing golf. It doesnt matter if I hit a 5 iron or a 9 iron it goes 100 yards max. its so frustrating.. I actually dont play a bad round, , but I only use driver, 3 wood, hybrid wedge and putter.. I feel like a bad golfer.

I think this guy needs to learn the art of answering the question not telling you that there will be a reason that all your clubs go the same distance. That was the question not the answer.

if this is the case i do not think its fixable

Almost ready to quit, something going on that i'am losing distance with all shots, I hit a 8 iron about 144 in air, Driver right at 260, but for what ever reason i'll start to lose distance, like the 8 iron will go maybe 120 ? & driver 220, have tried many different fixes but nothing seems to work, what it feels like is that i'am not connecting the body with the arms ? I have put stuff under my arm pits to try an help, stay connected, & of course several other treatment Ha, what is really weird is that I can play for 2 or 3 holes & everything is ( normal ) ha but then goes wrong but i'am not feeling any swing change, but then every other shot will be good, try to figure out a yardage is pretty much impossible Thanks for any help ! at my wits end

Easy to hammer lob wedge to 7 iron. You swing easier on the lower irons. The lower you go the easier you swing.
