Most amateur golfers do not have the time to practice all 14 golf clubs in their bag, so if you narrow it down to mastering 4 golf clubs, you can start to see big improvements in your golf game and the scores you shoot!

I'd throw in a hybrid as well to master, they'll get you outta some tricky long yardage situations.

My go to "mini set" is usually a #4 hybrid (for 150+ yards), 8 iron (for 120 to 150 yard shots), Pitching wedge (for 90 to 120 yard shots), & putter

Thanks for posting. I am a minimalist walking golfer and play just 7 clubs regularly. Went to your concept some time ago and shooting low 80's from Sr. Tees.

I played with 5w, 8 iron, 56 wedge and putter... I played some of my best golf and was fun playing with different distances with sand club..

Great video those are the exact clubs I was thinking about. Great content

Fantastic coaching and soooo true, if only beginners would focus on just a few clubs.

My favourite club is a 6 hybrid, probably because I am not that good with irons. I can use it between 100 and 160 yards and hit it relatively straight. It's not bad for tough lies around the green either. Long hole and you're on in 3. Works for me.

Great video for someone like me that doesn't play often.

I don't have a sand wedge, what would you recommend?

Omg played driver, 6i, pw, putter.
Dropped a stroke per hole.
Shot my best score ever. 93

I love my 3 wood off the tee, again a 3 from a far, or pull out the 7 iron, sand wedge, putter. I honestly don't need to carry anything else. I play better carrying 4 to 7 clubs then i do carrying 14.

No Hybrid? 🤔
Personally, I'm quite rubbish with the Driver and Fairway Clubs, but fairly good with the irons... so I rather tend to use Hybrids on the fairway.
Would you think these should be practiced seperatly?
I mean, they are quite different to Fairway ("Woods" - don't really like the designation "wood", as they haven't been made of wood for quite some decades) Clubs - hence me playing better with them...

I just recently found out my favorite is the PW. That's my most consistent club.

I like the premise but I disagree. I think people should master a club they can hit as close to 200 yards (for most tricky par 3’s), a 120-150 yard shot for approach, a wedge as you described and the putter, I think you should focus on yardage not the number on the club head - my 2 cents

I used to practice with 7 iron on driving range, but I rarely get to use it on the course

Driver, putter, 7 iron and foot wedge.

Single length irons and hybrid ; reduced practice time because the swing is the same as a 7 iron. Milford, Cobra, Sterling in order of cheap to more expensive .

Not disagreeing with any of this, what i will add is that if you're more than an 18 handicap you dont need to reach the green in regulation. Make your tee club one that you can keep in play as much as absolutely possible. Get your 3rd shot on the green close enough to 2 putt and shooting 90 is relatively easy.

Master your driver, 7 iron, 56 wedge, putter. If you can do that you will be as well rounded as possible.
