Beginning of the game: "OMG stalkers are the scariest thing I've ever seen!!!"
End of the game: "Awww, who's my good lil stalky-puppers?"

probably the scariest part of this game is driving a cyclops and randomly seeing a red dot appear on its radar

The scariest thing in subnautica is the first time you encounter a reefback with no knowledge on the game

Fun fact: After you are cured of the Kharaa bacterium, the Warpers will leave you alone and act passive towards you throughout the rest of the game. They won’t throw teleportation balls at you or slash you with their claws. They’ll just look at you and teleport themselves elsewhere.

Fun fact: Common mistake for defeating crashfish is to swim away quickly. It turns out they have a terrible turn radius making the strategy of swimming towards and past them much more effective

Honorable Mention: The random peeper than will smack into your seamoth from time to time

“Warning, multiple leviathan class lifeforms detected, are you sure what you’re doing is worth it?”

I was out in the open and I heard this screeching that was just... terrifying.

I took a couple deep breaths, telling myself, “It's just a game.” Then turned around and saw a Ghost Leviathan coming at me.

I about shit myself.

They barely missed me.

Fun fact: you can feed stalkers and they will be friendly around you and even bring you scraps!
(If it’s hungry it will stop being so passive so feed it a lot)

Reaper leviathans are scary af. But the scariest things in the game aren’t the creatures. The two I can think of right now are “multiple leviathan class creatures detected” and hitting something with your seamoth when there’s no land masses around you.

I think you missed the one hypno fish. That thing is legit creepy especially how it distorts your AI and even in its description its unknown how it does what it does, then ut also alters its decrption.

Reaper is the ONLY one that I worry about as an experienced player for one reason. It's roar is often mentioned, what most forget to mention is how they sometimes sneak up on you without making a sound.

A thing that makes the Sea Dragon Leviathan even scarier: They hunt and eat Reaper Leviathans

Something that makes the Reaper even more terrifying is that it can echolocate, meaning if you can hear it… it can see you

"Within the waters are many terrifying beasts" *shows sea treaders* They are the most helpful creatures in the game :(

I love them

A thing about the Crabsquid- the giant transparent sack on top of its head does not contain its brain. It actually contains its giant stomach.

I've always found that the one reason the Reaper is so much scarier than the rest of the hostile leviathans is its appearance. In all honesty, the Ghost Leviathans scare me more with their threat to the player rather than their appearance, and I honestly do not find the Sea Dragon very scary at all. Both of those lose their scariness factor with how "sci-fi" they are, if that makes sense. Basically, they just tend to look more cool than scary. But the thing about the Reaper is that it looks fleshy, fishy, and more realistic in the sense of its design. That, to me, makes it a lot scarier.
